Nice patch list, when does that go live?

Frankly I’m just shocked (and pleased) that they are continuing to improve the game.
You missed this one which should make some people happy:
- Replay is now available at the end of the game, and through the main menu. You can choose Map, Graphs, and turn-by-turn. Only games played post-patch will apply.
Also, I could have sworn this one was in before:
- Player is now given the option to return a CS worker that they free from barbarians.

I have to say, this game has been receiving some excellent support.
I think it makes sense because Civilization is not a front loaded franchise where tons of copies are sold during the first week and that’s it, it’s more a game which will have decent sales during months, if not years.
Yay for replays and graphs and such. It’ll be fun to get back into Civ5, I think, once I clear away the games that I’ve been slowly making my way through. This lengthy break has given them some time to improve the game to a point where it should play appreciably different once I restart.
Any word on full expansions and what they may include or is it all going to be DLC?
I’m wondering if that last one means you can email the save file to the next player for him to take his turn as if he were sitting at the same PC: he’d load it on his PC, take his turn, and then email the save to the next player. If so, um, we’ll need to get some Civ V MP games going!
I would say that’s exactly what it means.
Have they fixed the issue with deals like Open Borders expiring without first giving you a warning and a chance to renew or renegotiate? I wish they would at least give you a pop-up icon over on the “to do” list with warnings like “Such and such deal with Whomever will expire next turn!” so you have a chance to renew the deal smoothly without letting it temporarily lapse. That’s especially important with something like Open Borders that can teleport your troops around or luxury deals that can torpedo your happiness.

Jeez major happiness nerfs buried in there – luxuries are now +4 instead of +5, and extra cities are now -3 instead of -2. Several happiness buildings are now -1 from their old values. That is going to put a serious yoke on people who prefer to build “wide” empires. OTOH, culture stuff seems to have gotten a good boost.
I like the research agreement being extra research instead of free techs, reducing the need to game the tech tree when you had RAs outstanding. I also like that the AI will remember more things and take them into account, particularly trades, which makes the trade aspect a lot more interesting. I was hoping they’d do more to penalize use of nukes, though – that still remains a major annoyance for me. Most games that make it to the modern age feature a major nuclear exchange, and sometimes two or three of them.
All in all, looks like a really good patch, though, and I agree with everyone that it’s great they are still supporting the game so much. Way to ensure customer loyalty!

I’ll have to take another stab at this game after this patch drops. It seems like a huge number of my issues either have already been addressed or will be addressed with this one.

I’m very happy too. With the slow speed of the patch’s development I’d have to imagine they’re going full steam ahead with a major expansion.
The patch has been released, and my game updated about 15 minutes ago.

I haven’t played this game in months, mostly because I’ve been waiting/hoping for them to add multiplayer unit animations into the game. I used to play Civ 4 multiplayer with friends all the time, but they don’t want to try Civ 5 at all based on a lot of the comments and reviews at the major Civ community websites. It’s good to know they are still patching it though, and I’m glad they added in end game graphs. I think I may fire up the game again juch to experience all the changes they have done. Thanks for the heads up on the patch release.
Anyone who gets play time in this week, I’d love to hear your opinion on the changes and how they improve the game.
I am gonna finally get around to giving this a try, having got the game over Christmas , I’ve finally caught up my backlog enough to invest 15-20 hours in Civ 5 this weekend ahead.

Well, I think I know what I’m playing tonight.
For the first time since the weekend after release.
Holy crap, load times have been sped up.
Nerfed the Meritocracy push method. Meritocracy no longer grants you a great person, meaning no way to punch through to the Medieval era through a combination of a Great Engineer and the Great Library.
Selling open borders is still worth 50, but selling luxuries to your friends will now net you only 240, rather than the 300 you might expect.
Huh? Who needs meritocracy to get to medieval? After the basic techs + writing, start building the Great Library the hard way, research trapping and philosophy. Et voila, civil service and farms++, plus a step towards education and the Porcelain Throne, I meant, tower, and another free great scientist to get ready for your great leap forward from gunpowder to riflemen + cannons…
I’m not saying you need it, I’m saying that was a great way to push Medieval. You could shave off a good many turns by cranking out Great Library in one turn. All of that time spent building the Library “the hard way” could be spent toward Stonehenge, or something comparable.
