Well, splash top is available on android devices as well. I have it on my Echo, but besides Dungeons of Dredmor, I haven’t tried to use it with games (it was free from Amazon for a day).
Hmmm, interesting theory. Maybe you can extrapolate and I’ll explain in greater detail:
I’d be playing along and one of my AI “friends” would ask for Citrus (I had 3) and would offer 200 gold in return. I’m always running out of gold so I’d click “OK”. A turn after the trade my happiness would drop and Citrus would no longer be on my Luxury list for the next 30 turns. Maybe it’s a bug? I also get "your people are extremely unhappy" messages when my happiness rating is just fine.

That’s really odd, that’s not how it should work. If they’re asking for 3 citrus (have never seen them ask for more than one) it should say so.
Where does it display that your people are very unhappy and what is the happiness of your Civ? Can you post a screenshot.
I should have done that (screenshot). The message popped up, ironically, when my happiness skyrocketed up. But I’d get it when it dropped below zero too. I’ll get a screencap next time I play.
The AI never asked for more “amounts of citrus”. They’d just “request citrus for $200 gold”.
My second attempt is going much better. I had a bit of breathing room, and my closest neighbors were Iroquois and Inca. They fought each other a few times, then Inca DoWed me but I was able to repel it easily. I am allies with nearby cultural and military city states, and half of my small army is from the military state.
My capital is also a bit better production wise, and I actually have some Iron in my territory. Only 2 units, but it helps. I also have some desert nearby, so I should also have oil if I need it later.

Cool, the screenshot would help. I’ve got a laundry list of problems with the game but I haven’t run into the issues you’re having. It sounds really buggy, but maybe I’m just misunderstanding something.

You may already know this, but, there is a lot of that sort of data available in Civ V. It is somewhat hidden however.
There is a button that looks like a scroll just to the left of the culture policies button that gives access to lists of such things as your economic or military data. Once you are on those screens, there are likely to be plain unhighlighted just text “tabs” that have other groupings of details (to my mind they don’t stand out as such, since they are not displayed in a usual “tab” style). These non-tab-looking tabs will be along the upper part the window and are so easy to miss, and led me to believe there was “missing” data for a long time.
Some of the data detail screens include little + markers to the left of an item (sort of like the expand button in the directory listings) that will drill deeper, like for example, there is a way to drill down to see exactly how much each city is costing you in building maintenance from the economic list in this manner.
All in all, there’s a lot of data there, but getting to it is not sufficiently in line with (at least my own) expectations regarding UI visual cues to be obvious.
I will have to explore that further (sorry my post sounded so idiotic - was falling asleep). Maybe since I’m running 2560x1600 I’ve missed smaller menu items. Currently I have ~60 mods installed to alleviate the interface issues so I’m going to go back, uncheck them all and load up an older game.

I’m wondering if it’s some of the UI mods conflicting with each other and causing some of the weird issues? That’s a whole lotta concurrent mods, man. :)
WOW, thanks Warren!
So yes, because so much of the interface is not clickable I had not tried clicking the words. After you click so many things and nothing happens early on, you just expect it to be like that in the mini-data windows. Which leads me to my next issue - any way to make those window lists bigger? I’m spending more time scrolling through lists than playing (military unit list only shows 10 units at a time?!). I have a giant screen and that list is like the size of Mercury against the backdrop of the Sun.
If there’s no way to make the data windows bigger and need less scrolling… is there a mod that might do that? Warren, do you have any other mods you’re fond of?

All my complaints were from before downloading mods. I just downloaded all the mods to address the issues I was having.

I’m back to my old game to try and replicate the Citrus luxury issue. I’ve seen in the log each time I trade it is indeed just 1 citrus, and never all 3 so I’m closing in on that.
-
Also, it says I have -1 horse strategic resources. How do I find out what’s using horses?
-
Last, where is a list that shows where all my resources are currently being traded around? This game has the most obtuse information windows ever.
Happiness bug I mentioned before (no mods, back to old game I was playing):

I’m not sure where the diplo-resource display is (if it exists). For the horses, the only way I know how to tell is to click the icon in the top-left corner (which is usually set to the Research beaker symbol) and change it to units. Any cavalry unit is going to be consuming a horse: chariot archer, horseman, knight, cavalry (lancer as well?). There might be a more elegant way, but that’s all I know off the top of my head.
One more really odd thing… See this screenshot . I’ve never agreed to trade “Oil” to any AI, yet it shows 5 of my oil are being exported… I looked through my entire “deal history” and nope… no trades. Is there a chart that shows what items are going to whom in the game somewhere?

Okay, that’s odd.
I found a display to find where you’ve traded resources. Click on the little scroll thing in the top right to pull down the overviews, then click on Diplomatic Overview. Switch to the Deal History tab. Do you see any trades for those resources in there?
Okay, so poking around, there is (was? fixed now?) a known bug where AI players would confuse luxury and strategic resources, which caused counting problems and missing information.
My standard policy is never to accept any resource trades unless I initiate them. I also avoid mixing and matching strategic resources with luxury resources. (Well, okay, really I just avoid trading strategic resources in general.)
That’s where I was checking and zero trades for oil. I nevber trade for oil in my games anyways so I knew it was out of character for me.
Happen to have a link? My issues goes hand in hand with that.
Apparently it was fixed in one of the patches, so make sure you’re up to date.
I keep getting an annoying audio sync/lag issue. My mouse clicks will register, and then 1-2 seconds later the sound effect will play. The audio in the leader cut scenes is also lagged. I’ve tried just about every tip I’ve found: deleting cache, verifying files, deleting savegames, turning off the “enablegamecorethread” in the config file. Nothing seems to work with any regularity.
It doesn’t seem to be related to map size or length of game, either. Most times it occurs as soon as I boot the game, before I even pick a map or load a save.
For information, I’ve got a 3570k, Radeon HD7850, 8GB of RAM, and I’m running the game off an SSD. I’ve got all the graphics settings maxed, but the frame rate never dips below 40, so I don’t think turning them down would help.
Now that I think about it, I suppose I could “fix” the issue by muting the sound, but the OCD in me would like to figure out what the heck is going on here. Anyone have any advice?

I have a few friends that play this game online, and have told me that turns used to take forever for the machine (like 15 min), but in a patch this has ben reduced dramatically. We have talked about it, and my friends say that is probably a cut in the deep the search for a solution. I say perhaps, but maybe can be something else, like a fix for a horrible retarded bug.
Anyone know what is the real reason? what really fixed these long times?
