I had the same thing happen with Saladin. The guy asked me into his war-bed, then he war-slut-shamed me.

So has anyone figured out what the penalties are for more cities yet? Because in the end of my game as the Americans I was damn close to 10 and still hadn’t noticed any significant penalties for it. I’m sort of annoyed that basic information about the mechanics of the game is so hard to come by! :/

The video covered it fairly well. Each unit (maybe only non-military) has an increased cost settlers, builders etc. Most importantly the district costs increases. So if you like 3 district per city it becomes very expense if you have 8 or so cities.

So how many times in one game is Civ VI going to tell me that someone built Stonehenge?

Are we sure that district costs depend on how many districts you’ve built? I’ve read conflicting things about what increases the cost of districts. One thread at Reddit, for example, suggests that district costs scale with the techs/civics learned. Another post suggests district costs scale with time – that they go up even if you don’t build new districts. I suppose one could test this with a sample game on fast speed.

Unrelated point: I wish I’d realized sooner that factories provide their production bonus to all cities within a 6-hex radius of the factory. Good to know! The same is true of the zoo.

I read about the six hex factory thing somewhere, but who builds their cities THAT close together! I was using something similar to my Civ V spacing in my first game of Civ VI and I had cities there were cut off because I couldn’t get the borders to merge because they were a hex or two too far :(

It just makes me nuts because if you don’t gobble up big swaths of land and seal it all off, the AI ends up being a dick and building one worthless city right in the middle of “your” land in midgame or something stupid and I HATE THAT! D:

Amazon has finally shipped my collectors edition!

If you guys are still struggling vs the AI military on Emperor difficulty, surviving and teching up to Air Balloons seems to be a strong strategy. They add +1 range to bombard units. And they stack.

I’m still in my first game (1904 as Scythia) and I just found out, that I have misunderstood how luxury resources works, I think. From the civipedea I got the impression, that Oranges gave +1 amenity in 4 cities, hence two Oranges would give +1 in 8 cities. This has made me reluctant to trade any luxury resources, since I might need a few more oranges within the next 30 turns. Apparently, luxury resources are still only usable once and any surplus can be safely traded away. And Oranges, regardless of how many of them you have, can only be used in 4 cities. This certainly explains why my population have been discontent since I “liberated” France (hey, the frog-eaters started it!)

On a totally unrelated note; I have a Logitech G910 keyboard with individual key backlighting. Civ VI is the first game I know of, which has built in support for this. My keyboard actually changes to red lighting when I am in war, and is a pleasant earthen yellow when in peace. Not exactly very useful, but I was childishly impressed by it, when I discovered it, in a “middle-aged man who spends way too much money on flashing gadgets” kind of way

The Nena strategy: 99 Luftballoons —> ICBM

Small tip, clicking on unit name brings up unit list. Handy to find that errant autoexplorer that’s still stuck in the tundra.

Great, now I have a sudden urge to get that keyboard now… how much is this thread going to cost me?

Really enjoying it so far. I’m sick at home today, so I might stream for anyone who is at work and wants to live vicariously though me.

I spent too much money on my red LED keyboard, so I’m not going to change it, but that’s pretty sweet.

I wonder if I can make mine do that… It’s this one - https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00CD1FC6G

edit - turns out, no, it’s a Logitech thing.

I believe it changes color based on what Civilization you are. Playing as India will give you a nice magenta.

My Logitech G510 does the same thing.

My Logitech G15 just looks on in envy.

Thanks @Tim_N after trying many other solutions from the tech support forums this worked instantly. No long loading times now and no crashes on exit :)

You people and your toy keyboards. My keyboard doesn’t light up, but it kicks every other kind of ass.

Mafia 3 and GTA V both use the dynamic lighting on my G910 as well.
