Just to confirm, if someone is getting close to a religious victory can I wipe them out to stop that from happening? Furthermore, if another AI, who got converted to this religious prior, manages to convert the rest of the world to that religion, does anyone win then?

I believe only the founder of the religion can win the religious victory.
Oh interesting, Wonders that “must be built next to X district” don’t have to be built by the city with the district.
So like if Paris has an Encampment on the Rouen side of its territory, Rouen could build the Alhambra off it.
Yeah, the game doesn’t care who owns something for adjacency purposes.
You can build an industry district and it will get bonuses for a mine owned by a city state.
I also found entertainment districts count as a district for giving bonuses, even thought they don’t get any bonuses themselves. Same should apply to encampments. Not sure if it counts for neighborhoods/aqueducts but I will assume yes.
What I don’t understand is exactly how much better a +1 is compared to a +2. Is this just +2 science, for example? Then you multiply it by the adjacency bonus policies?

That’s eaxactly what I like too. I would love the grab that whenever you get around to doing it as that’s the kind of balance I’d lie as well.
Can someone explain to me why Mbamba is creating a quarter of the hammers it says it should be?
I conquered it some years ago, and it’s always been this way. “Occupied city multiplier” is “n/a” for growth, but luckily the breakdown of hammers and where they come from is something Emperors clearly don’t need to worry about.
Mbanza-Kongo, also conquered, functions normally.
e: Ah hah! The Market is at -228/105 production. Well, that makes sense then.
I love the game so far. It has a beautiful ambiance in the art style and music and animations and the way the worlds are set up. I sent a Caravel across the sea and in the distance a snow-capped mountaintop came within view. As I drew closer the shore was revealed as an impenetrable wall of rain forest. Then in between turns a barbarian appeared in the trees; I left it alone. And then the next turn a unit from a previously un-met city state also appeared in the trees and attacked the barbarian. Witnessed by my lonely crew of sailors half way around a big world.
The game has a countless supply of these little stories.

There’s certainly still the classic Civ oddities of diplomacy in this edition. Playing a game on Prince, and I’m ahead on my continent. I have infantry and artillery. China has crouching tigers (come on now, this is just a lazy unit name) and pike, and not very many of them. But they are pissed at my getting too far ahead so they declare surprise war for the hell of it I guess. Suicide by human. Too bad for them…

Oh by the way, is it just me or are most of the wonders not worth it to build? A few of them seem okay, but in previous editions almost all were highly desirable and it was just a question of your resources. Here many of them just seem meh.
Oh, okay, Avignon can’t build districts in the Forbidden Zones next to its city center here for obvious reasons. Good, good. No reason to inform me of any causes or anything. They’re just the Forbidden Zones.

I think flood plains are forbidden for districts and most wonders unless you’re Egyptian.

Whoa.
Pangaea, King, small map. From like 50 hexes away Sumeria and Brazil declare war on me in year 2800 BC. I swear I didn’t kill their ambassadors or defile their flags or anything. Totally random, based on no hostility, very early in the game. The sole factor I can imagine motivating them is my army was weak, but hell, they were 50 hexes away. This is crazy behavior.

Every game I have played Sumeria has declared war on me completely unprovoked. Which is a very small sample size to be honest. I think he is just aggressive and wants to use his early advantage with war-carts.
Speaking of which, does anyone how good first impressions are made? Do some AI’s just want you to be more cautious with them? I always do the welcoming response.

Could also depend on what the zone is, somethings like Encampments can’t be built near the center or whatever.

Your description of Marathon reminds me vaguely of how the early Civ games used to play; wasn’t tech slower back then? I do agree that it’s fun to enjoy the effects of your latest tech for more than a few turns, especially if the effect involves your unique unit.
In any case, I’d also like to see slower tech and faster production, and I think others have said the same. I’m sure there will be a mod for it (or maybe we can do it ourselves).
In my Prince game, I’m now constructing Seaside Resorts and collecting relics and art in the hopes of securing a culture win, but I dunno, I’m the culture leader but still only at 17/106. So to hedge my bets, I guess I’ll start a space program – but that will alert the world. My army rules the roost, so I guess I don’t mind, but I guess I’d better be sure no one gets nuclear weapons before I launch my spaceship…

Tried playing again. Now my mouse movement is… bad. As in, horrifically bad. If I left click to move it around, it jumps. In starts and shit. Click the mouse and move up, game stops for a half second then appears up. Repeat for everything.
So strange, I got though the whole game with zero issues, but now it’s just non-stop problems to the point that I can’t even play.

Maybe there’s a memory leak? I’ve had two crashes, both after long play sessions. Maybe reboot and try again?

It happens instantly. And my system recently got rebooted.
