I try to refrain from promoting content here, but I’ve seen numerous discussions about the lack of co-op in the PC versions of Halo and DOOM 3, so I thought it was worth mentioning that the PC version of MOV will support 2-player co-op via Internet or LAN, while the Xbox co-op is strictly splitscreen. I love co-op, so I thought it was cool when I found out and wanted to share.
I was told a month ago that they wouldn’t have co-op for the PC. Glad to hear they’ve changed their minds, but I have to wonder what they were able to do to get around all the problems Gearbox claimed they had with making Halo PC co-op.
I’m slowly playing through Vietcong and the expansion, hopefully I can finish up in time. I keep pausing to finish up other games (Unreal 2 was finished last night, on to Max Payne 2).
Anyone that would frag your partner for C-rats should be sent up on a section 8. Now if he were carrying some Thai stick…

It’s not so much the rations as it’s the thrill of the hunt. Though, there’s not much hunting involved. Ok, so I’m crazy. Crazy but lovable. No, just crazy.
OK, I feel a litte dumb now. Although I was told pretty clearly that the PC version would have full co-op support, it appears Vivendi is backtracking a bit on it:
“At this time the developers at 2015 have not committed to getting co-op play into Men of Valor PC. We’re working with them to try to get it in the game but can not say for certain right now whether it will be or not.”
Thankfully, the estemmed Mr. Kahn was standing right there, so he can verify that I didn’t just make this up. :) Nevertheless, I hope they get the feature in – games like this are just crying out for co-op, whether it’s with 2, 3 or a full squad of 6-8 players.
Ouch. It sounds like they’re having the same problems Gearbox had with single-player scripting in a networked environment. I know they’d love to get it in there, but my guess is that it’s pretty low on their list of priorities.
In the end, I’ll be surprised (albeit pleased) if they get co-op into the PC version.
I’ll vouch for this - I had just gotten back from a press tour with someone from 2015 and we were being non-commital about co-op, but our wires got crossed and we gave the wrong message to Sal. Totally our fault.
We’re working on it with 2015. Hopefully it’ll get in there. If someone here can organize a petition drive and send us a petition with 100,000 names on it, maybe that’ll help. Any fewer than 100,000 and don’t bother.
Oh, yes, a whopping 8 posts, now THAT’S a guaranteed market!!![/quote]
What is the reason for your glee at devs not including co-op? You actually like it that devs are stripping features out of games?
As for the Men of Valor thing–what the hell is the point of releasing yet another anonymous shooter set during a real war? Haven’t we already seen way too many stereotypical shooters this year already? How do you guys plan on marketing this one, Adam? “You’ve already played this game seven times over the past year! Go for eight!”
Take a look at sales, my friend. Just because you’re bored of the genre doesn’t mean others are. In fact, the opposite is true. The market can (and does) support many shooters at the same time.
