One fucking drive. Put it together, Paul Johnson and large truck-sized running backs.

Ayeeeee!!! That should have been a safety!

This game is getting great.

Well that was unexpected. Jonathan Dwyer, you are not the type of player who can run backwards and make a big play.

I just wish my last name was Angerer. It’s like “not only am I from a line of people filled with anger, we are filled with angerer!” That guy was born to play defense.

Well, damn. You were right Tim, the Tech D line is getting pushed around like little girls at exactly the time they need to be at their best. Fucking engineering schools and dreams of playing football…

Not too bad, I’m pleased. They showed a couple solid drives in the second half. I think in a few years they will be decent at bowl games or against teams with extra time to prepare. Can’t wait to watch them again next year!

9-4 last year with a win (finally) against Georgia, 11-3 this year with an ACC championship. Big baby steps, and it’s light years beyond six straight seasons with Chan Gailey hovering around 7-5. Most importantly, it’s (usually) quality entertainment. Had such a good time in Tampa.

I live a mile and a half from the Rose Bowl. So in an area that usually gets an ambulance call every six weeks to two months, there have been three in the last 2 hours. Early tailgating I guess. Cops everywhere too, I’m going nowhere today. It is a BEAUTIFUL day if you like a warm winter day…the sky is clear and the air is very nice.

But whatever you do, don’t move here. The state government sucks bad!!!

Just a few hours and Rimbo will either be screaming in ecstasy or screaming in angst!

I’ll be listening for him :)

The sirens are for all the Bama fans playing “Hey Bubba, watch this!” with various found items, liquor and firearms.

If it weren’t for Rimbo, rooting for Texas would be a no-brainer. Now I’m torn. Maybe I’ll just skip it and hope they somehow tie.

It’s great reading EDSBS this week. The agony over who to root for is funny. It’s truly one of those games that would be best if struck by a meteor.

I wasn’t into college football back when Alabama was relevant, and now I’m flabbergasted at how earnest and serious their fans are since they’ve come out of the woodwork. Not sure how to describe it, but it’s like all the jokes are true. At the risk of being select-quoted when he returns, Rimbo is similar, hence my predicament. (I do like you in general, Rimbo, some of these Texas posts are just too geeky even for me!)

As a contrarian to contrarians or one against narratives against narratives, I kind of like that the SEC has won 3 straight just to keep the noise level down so we can focus on football games. But either way, after this game college football chat is going to painful for a while.

I think I’ll just drink beer and figure out what to do with the result when it gets here.

I’m mostly rooting for neither, but a Texas win would be amusing from a “how badly will their fans take it”* perspective.

An EDSBS poster (maybe our own Timmah) asked what the over under is for Alabammy fans who would want Saban fired if they lost. I’d put it at 30%.

*meaning how badly will the Alabama faithful take it I mean.

Wasn’t me, I post under my name, but usually just trying to make some wisecrack like that. It’s blog comments so no way to have a real discussion.

Best one over there was how someone in Alabama (not a fan) said if they lost he might have to take off work to listen to the sorrow and ranting on sports talk radio all day, haha.

Given that the boards here will be blessed with a miserable Rimbo or an insufferable Rimbo I think the choice is clear.

ROLL TIDE!

I’m putting aside my Alabama hate for the night, Rimbo pushed me over the edge. I like Rimbo, but my God, the delusions he has about that school…

Also, I like the fact that the SEC is undefeated in these games, with Tennessee, LSU (twice) and Florida (twice) combining for a 5-0 record in this fictional title game. Also, it would be the first time any conference had won 4 titles in a row.

One thing that worries me is that almost everyone outside of Austin is picking Alabama, but the line is only 3 1/2. Oddsmakers generally know what they are doing. Still, I just don’t think Texas will be able to handle the Alabama defense, so I’m picking Bama in a close (on the scoreboard)game.

A while ago I would’ve wanted both teams to look terrible so neither fanbase would go on and on about their teams, but after the bowl games I’ve seen I need this to be a great game!

I can’t really call it either. I feel like Texas is similar to Florida in a lot of ways, but Florida came out so flat in the SEC game so it’s not a useful comparison. Assuming Texas can tackle, who knows what would happen at that point. We’ll see if they can get pressure on McElroy or stop the run at the line, since with Florida’s best DE out it made even their superb secondary look porous.

And if Alabama’s defense wasn’t thinking about NFL money too much over the break, they ought to do fine. The gameplan will be the same as containing Tebow – keep McCoy in the pocket and hit him hard, though Texas ought to be able to handle that better than easily-confused Tebow.

Still cannot decide who I am pulling for. Once the game begins I will check my internal Root-O-Meter and it will guide me.

I’m concerned that we may have missed out on our chance to see Mark Mangino in glorious 3D!

I know this. It’s going to be socially awkward when you have the guys over for some beers and football and you start passing out 3D glasses.
