Looks like inside LB coach for Dolphins will be new Florida DC. http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20100107/ARTICLES/100109652/1136?Title=Sources-Dolphins-Edwards-is-UF-s-defensive-coordinator Used to work for Spurrier.

Don’t follow the NFL so I don’t know if that’s good or not.

His agent , if he has one, was cringing at every word Colt said. “It doesn’t hurt, I just can’t feel it”…That was about two million dollars lost…

McClain’s got a baby face, don’t think I’ve seen him with his helmet off.

Oddly enough, no, he doesn’t. I had a few comments on Facebook about how Saban was acting like Urban by scoring there.

This one is from the nicest person I know, he knows more about football than you and I combined, and never resorts to cheap personal attacks like I do.

"Actually that wasn’t like him to score the last TD when he could have taken a knee - must have been Urban coaching the Tide there at the end!

I’m sure he knows a lot about football, but I’ve seen it about 5 times this season with my own eyes.

I could almost feel the Gator fans’ bloodlust on those plays, but even after driving down at the end he had Brantley take the knee with less than 40 seconds to go.

It’s likely Saban wanted to reward his players, so no big deal.

I was thinking the same thing.

I also found it interesting that he was giving God the glory for it.

Review the last few years of Urban and come back. A hint for one example is “Bulldogs”.

Well, he is standing on the rock, and all that.

As the old joke goes, “Fuck you God for not being there for us today…” etc etc

Colt was classy in giving credit to Bama, but he really should have avoided talking AT ALL about his arm.

Oh, well he should have specified robot terminator Urban Meyer, not implanted heart being rejected by his cyborg exoskeleton Urban Meyer, who is much more laid back this season. Your buddy just needs to update his narrative.

Don’t worry, he’s sowed plenty of bad blood around for his biggest rivals and will get his comeuppance next season. Saban probably figured he wouldn’t see Texas again for a while. :)

Rimbo, in all seriousness, I hope you had a good day with your dad!

Good season, folks. Someone else will have to start the 2010 thread so I can resist being annoying by posting links to EDSBS and Name of the Year competition during the entire offseason.

Good luck to all teams in the Fulmer Cup. AKs high!

Now that the final game is over, I find myself wondering: has there been a more lackluster college football season in recent memory? It seems like it’s been an incredibly boring year, right down to a championship game I couldn’t get excited about.

I think a big part of the problem was so many traditional powers having down years. USC, Ohio State and Penn State all lost in September. Notre Dame and Michigan continue to struggle. Neither Nebraska nor Oklahoma were real BCS contenders. Fla powers like Miami and FSU are going through transition phases. Instead, you had teams like TCU, Cincinnati, Boise State and Iowa fighting to be taken seriously, which I had trouble with. I barely watched a bowl game this year, a rarity for me.

Thet basically left three teams at the top: Florida, Texas and Alabama. Florida could have been an interesting story with Tebow trying to repeat, but once they lost, the title game turned into The Unlikable Coach against The Unlikable Team. Saban’s a weasel I can’t root for in any capacity, but Texas fans may be the most annoying of any American sport. I found myself wondering if there was any scenario where a 3-3 tie could have given a title to someone else.

So was it just me? Anyone else feel this year’s season was a underwhelming letdown?

Damn, that was one hell of a 3rd quarter. For a bright shining moment, it looked like a true Freshman backup was going to pull off the miracle.

But alas, the reality of having a true freshman trying to figure out the blitzes and coverages of a salty-ass and phenomenal defense like Alabama blindsided him, caused him to fumble, leading to the TD that put the game away.

I’m proud of the kids for fighting as well as they did, disappointed for Colt (and here’s to a quick recovery). And hats off to Alabama for doing what they needed to do to win.

I’m very bullish on our future, though. Half of the guys making plays tonight were underclassmen.

Dad and I had a great time and enjoyed the highs and didn’t get too bothered by the lows. In the end, it’s only football! :)

I agree. I’ve found it pointless to even venture onto Texas message boards on game day – lose or win, someone will be whining.

I’m not even close to the worst you’ll see.

Seriously.

Yeah, it’s our OL that’ll be a concern. And as Sam Bradford discovered this year, having a young, inexperienced OL can be bad for your health. We’re also losing bodies on our DL – Lamarr Houston and Sergio Kindle are irreplaceable. But then, we didn’t know our DL would be all this great THIS year, and look how they turned out!

That’s pretty awesome that you got to see the game in person. Glad you had fun. :)

Yeah, it’s more fun when we win, and considerably more fun when our star player doesn’t get knocked out of the game on his 3rd play, but … shoot, we started really getting into the games in the early 90’s. Back then we thought it was a great year if we even MADE it to a bowl game. And we’re talking about shitty bowls like the Sun Bowl here. Simply making it to the MNC game twice in 5 years is an abundance of riches by comparison. :)

I realized some time after McCoy went down that I was rooting for Texas. I just couldn’t help it.

Great game. Sorry Rimbo. You probably provided most of the enjoyment for us last night without even being here. :) It was all Rimbo this and that as you most likely noticed. All I thought was that this was not the game I wanted to see. Now, you may a tad bit more dissapointed than I am. ;)

That was a great game until the end, I think Saban got outcoached a bit after Bama took the lead and started playing ultra-conservative, but ultimately he had better athletes on the field. The Texas comeback sort of reminded me of the Bama Tennessee game, right down to the funky onside kick. If only the Horns had been able to get something out of that. The Texas D-line was impressive, I thought Bama would have trouble moving the ball because of their style of play, not because they had Texas defenders in the backfield 60% of the game. Everyone is crucifying Mack for the shovel pass call, but it was a fluke tip and catch, maybe the smart call was to take a knee there but it’s not like he went for it on 4th down from his own 10 or something. And Rimbo, at least Texas was in the hunt. I wish I was sitting at home sad because my team lost the BCS Championship game instead of the Chik-Fil-A Bowl. ;)

Yeah, folks griping about the shovel are just looking for something. I think it is only slightly more risky than a hand off. If it misses, 99% of the time it hits the ground. The halftime crew were going on about how bad a call it was. That was kinda silly. I guess they should have run it or taken a knee, but whatever.

Now on to recruiting

  1. Texas 2. Alabama 3. Oklahoma 4. Florida 5. Auburn 6. Penn State 7. Tennessee 8. LSU 9. USC 10. Georgia

Kidding, I don’t care much about recruiting. Half of them do not pan out and another 25% cannot become eligible. PLus, there are a ton of players that are not highly recruited that become great.
