It’s also funny because you can imagine some Alabama hick (who didn’t go to the school, of course) taking his children to the Walk of Champions and telling them about Nick Saban in hushed tones. The various obsessions and culture shock just adds to the fun of SEC rivalries.
But the real question is if they’ll make it a lot shorter than the other ones.
I guess it would be ironic playing against a team coached by a guy you have a statue of up.

I wonder if they can buy the one LSU put in the basement, they could probably get a deal on it.
And I’m done. Saw at EDSBS.
This weekend fans can get up close and personal with the sparkling football. The trophy will be on display Saturday, January 9 at the Walmart Supercenter on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, from noon until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, it will be in the Gardendale location on 890 Odum Road from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Fans should be able to have their picture taken with the trophy.
Big Georgia Tech news though. They hired Al Groh as the new DC, which is both hilarious and terrifying but apparently he’s pretty good on defense and ought to be a step up from Dave Wommack.
Also, UGA game goat Bebe Thomas originally said he was staying, and will now join the draft in the jump ball receiver category in the vein of Calvin Johnson. Their QB will stick around since he has very little NFL future, but their dive back Jonathan Dwyer might leave too. And of course their big defensive end prospect Derrick Morgan. (Not to turn on the ones I love, but the kid couldn’t catch Ricky fucking Stanzi scrambling for a 9 yard gain in the Orange Bowl despite being an arm’s length away; Big 10 speed, baby!)
Craig James for Senate.
Interesting especially in light of how he is seen by some as the villain in running Leach out of T. Tech.
He should get in now before it becomes clear that football is now dead in Lubbock.

The Seahawks are going after Pete Carroll. Hard.
If I was Carroll I’d take that job. He’s jumped the shark at USC.

Yeah, USC is out of steam, and will probably be getting a lot of sanctions in the near future, Pete should run before that all comes down.

Very, very true. Now that the court has ruled that the case materials on Bush can be made public, he needs to get while the gettin’s good, before the bloom is off his rose.
Only if Beating Texas was the only thing 'Bama fans cared about.
And I was saying Jesus > Bryant* anyway…
*in Alabama that is, where they are both considered mythical and yet very real, omnipotent entities who’s hand can be felt, literally, guiding the life of every redneck.
Not as much as Texas fans would like to believe I believe.
But, the mind of the average Bama fan is unknowable to me. Thank Bryant.

(that was tongue in cheek you silly foo)
ESPN is reporting this evening that Carroll has already accepted the Seahawks offer.
What if Jim Leavitt, Mike Leach, and Mark Mangino all took coaching and coordinator positions at USC?
The media… would be confused. Do we hype this team?
That would be pretty funny. I have to say I am a little shocked that Carroll is going on to Seattle; while he might have jumped the shark at USC, everything about the place apparently fit him the best. He could potentially coach anywhere if Seattle should prove a mess, but still…

Maybe Sanctions are on the way. They always get off right before the ship starts to sink.
