Yeah, I’m hoping this Kiffin crap wakes up some people on the need for the NCAA to change some rules. Sadly there is no way for them to deal with mercenary coaches, but what they could do is allow kids to transfer without penalty if their head coach is fired or leaves. A new coach would still have time to “recruit” them to stay and it would push schools to write contracts with much steeper penalties in them.
USC needs to travel to Tennessee in 2010. That would be just great. I don’t care who wins.
BTW, Lane Kiffin’s wife is smokin’ hot. Perfect LA girl.

dude, at the press conference introducing Lane at Tennessee last year, she showed up 8 months pregnant and I think every man in the room would have ditched their wives in a second for a chance with her. In fact, Lane looked uncomfortable as the randy ol bastards insisted she come up for photos. That press conference quickly became the stuff of legend in the SEC.

This introductory press conference for Lane Kiffin has been rather hostile for this sort of thing. I would like to thank the reporter that kept pressing him on whether Orgeron tried to get Tennessee commitments to switch to USC, and that he told the early commitments not to attend class today at Tennessee. Lane was doing some tap dancing. Tap dancing = lying in this case. I see the USC experiment ending even worse than the Knoxville experiment, difference being he won’t leave them, they’ll be forced to remove him. Oh,and he’ll last a few years there.

So who is still in the running for head coach at UT? Cutcliffe? Calhoun (Air Force)? It’s a shame for Vol fans that Muschamp didn’t work out. I heard that he was considering luring UGA’s Rodney Garner to be his DC if he ended up in Knoxville. I remember times when Garner was employed at Auburn and UT and pillaged Georgia for its athletes and so I’m a big fan of Rodney staying right where he is.
Fraud/Misrep, not contract.
"Come play for me." “Are you going to be there until I graduate?” “Yes”
ECU jumps out to a huge Fulmer Cup lead already with a couple of drunken episodes.
I completely forgot Alabama won the 2008 award.
The Jim Leavitt thing is bubbling up again because the victim now says he covered it up at the time to avoid embarrassing the coach and ruining his career in the football fraternity or whatever.

Looks like Troy Calhoun will be going to Tennessee. yay.
I just did a Google search on him and the news feed seems to be scrolling up with denials.
I had never seen that feature before.

I suppose he could be calling the team meeting today at 5:50 to inform his players he is staying. It wouldn’t surprise me.
He’s staying at AF unless he’s a bigger liar than Nick Saban was as the Dolphins coach, his latest statement says he will be at AF in 2010.
Chow turned down Kiffy.
Come on man, don’t you want to get the old band together? We had such good times, bro.
Haha! That is awesome. “I never even got to smell her hair.” Brilliant.
If I were Calhoun, I’d leave AF for any school where recruiting would be easier.
“But the coaching thing is not a deal-breaker.”

Derek “Son of Vince so maybe he’s good” Dooley? Good luck, Vols.

Some of the tweets on this have been priceless, e.g.:
“Since he’s La Tech’s AD, did UT have to ask him for permission to speak with him?”
and,
“UT just went from an NFL coach with a losing record to a WAC coach with a losing record.”
My condolences, robsam. This must be a very trying snicker time for you. At least you have your school’s cough great academics and historical giggle integrity!
What’s funny to me is that UT fans actually thought they might get Cowher or Gruden. Seriously. On the Titans boards, these were some of the names brought up by Vols fans. “We should get Gruden. He’d be good.” As though these guys would go coach Tennessee. It’s THAT kind of inflated sense of worth that makes the rest of you Vols fans look bad, robsam. Oh, and booing our seniors at Vandy’s senior day? That doesn’t help.
