I saw a scenario posited where Texas would be so willing to retain Will Muschamp that they force Mack Brown into early retirement. Then, the Vols could pick up Brown for their coach (if you’ll remember, Mack is from Cookeville, Tennssee). And another where Peyton Manning (btw, Dooley has a son named Peyton) makes a call to Tony Dungy… This has been the most entertaining off season in recent memory and it’s only a week old.

OMG… Force Mack Brown into early retirement, and he takes a job with the Vols!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!

The thing about Derek Dooley is that he’s a hell of a good person so that marks a drastic departure from UT’s previous football administration. He’s shown the ability to bring in great recruits from his time under Saban at LSU. And, being a UGA fan, I have a certain fondness for Dooleys. Yet I despise the color orange (everything bad in this world can be attributed to the color orange: University of Florida, University of Tennessee, Clemson University, Auburn University, the Dutch…). SEC East should be wide open next year.

Let’s be honest - the Vols settled for Dooley because the other candidates said no and they were running out of time. The timing of this was bad for the Vols and this was the best they could do. I just hope they give Dooley a decent shot, but I doubt that will happen. Their expectations are too high.

Dude, the Vols were turned down by the coaches at Air Force and Duke.

Let me say that again: Duke.

Cutcliff wanted to bring his entire staff, UT had a couple of coaches they wanted to keep so Cutcliff stayed. Muschamp didn’t like the penalty for leaving UT for Texas or Georgia that Hamilton wanted in the contract, which was a pretty good idea in light of what just happened.

Dooley has very, very, very well combed hair. Also very black. And well combed, if I didn’t mention that.

He was in charge of recruiting for Saban at LSU when they had the top classes in the nation in '01 and '03 (I may be off on the years, but he had two #1 classes). 17-20 in the WAC is better than 5-15 in the NFL I guess.

And that hair!

Oh, brother.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Tim Tebow is taking his star power to sport’s biggest stage.

The former Florida quarterback and his mother will appear in a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl next month. The Christian group Focus on the Family says the Tebows will share a personal story centering on the theme “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.”

The group isn’t releasing details, but the commercial is likely to be an anti-abortion message chronicling Pam Tebow’s 1987 pregnancy. After getting sick during a mission trip to the Philippines, she ignored a recommendation by doctors to abort her fifth child and gave birth to Tim.
Apparently CBS is still deciding “whether to air it.” Heh.

You know what? Air the ad.

It’s a good thing for the anti-abortion movement that pro-choice has gained them such spokespeople.

What Pam Tebow had:

If a woman wants to take that risk, then ok. The pro-life movement wants to force women to take it.

Lane Kiffin Leaves USC For Dream Job At GameStop

Hey, it’s even topical.

Really good article on ESPN’s coverage of Mike Leach. This is from the ESPN Ombudsman point of view. I’m on the run, so no time to quote, sorry.

Jesus Christ, Tebow had a bunch of drops on the snap from under center at the Senior Bowl. Does it really take 4 years of reps to not screw that up? This is going to be a disaster.

UF ought to just hire him to hang around, kind of like Schumacher and Ferrari.

Go Ducks!

EUGENE - The Eugene Police Department confirmed this morning that its officers are investigating an alleged theft, and the student who filed the report has told The Oregonian that the men he accuses in it are University of Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and wide receiver Garrett Embry.

Fraternity member Max Wolfard filed a police report alleging that the players took two MacBook Pro computers - one valued at $2,000, the other at $1,500 - and a $900 guitar from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house at 812 E. 14th Ave. in Eugene early Sunday.

Sounds unlikely. In other news, their kickoff specialist was recently beaten half to death. He’s in critical condition with multiple facial fractures after being involved with a 20 person brawl.

You just made my brain explode as it tried to extract something that made sense from that post.

Then later he could petition for another year of eligibility and play for Alabama.

I now understand what you meant, and that may be the worst analogy I have ever read. (smiley face gif)

My brain has now exploded as well. Like the burst of flavor from a bowl of ice cream.

Jackson Jeffcoat and Jordan Hicks, the #2 and #4 HS players in the nation, announce where they’re going to school tomorrow.

Rumor is that they planned their announcements back-to-back to make a splash, because they’re both going to the same place…

Oklahoma?
