Dammit, my cable box decided to malfunction today and I’ve lost most of my HD channels. I get Discovery and TBS, but no ABC, CBS or ESPNHD’s. My viewing pleasure of Oregon-Oregon State and Auburn-SC is going to be greatly diminished. Can’t get a new box until Monday. shakes fist at sky

Coaches just baffle me and Oregon State’s Riley is, by all accounts, a good coach. So, the Beavers win the toss. That means they basically have the option to have the Ducks start with the ball in the 1st half or 2nd half. The Ducks consistently crush people in the 2nd half.

If I’m the coach, there’s no way I want the Ducks to start with the ball in the 2nd half…yet the Beavers chose exactly that. It’s a small thing, but in my mind such a simple thing.

Edit: Oregon’s offense looks pathetic this week :(

Whoa. They’ve apparently banned Cam’s dad from the game.

Or maybe he skipped it for his own safety.

Well, looks like South Carolina is getting boatmurdred.

That was part of the “restricting Cecil Newton’s access to the Auburn football program” thing.

So Sweet.

After all the promise this season had it finishes up with Hawaii not getting any sweet Boise BCS money and me rooting for Auburn to win the National Title and then getting it taken away next year after all the Cam Newton dirt finally comes out. And Hawaii going to a MWC that has basically the same teams as the conference it’s in now. Could have been a lot worse I guess (Alabama repeat and Hawaii finishing bowl-ineligible), but bleh…

Any word on how much money it will take to get Cam Newton to transfer?

Seriously though, it’s a good example of how much a single player can impact the fortunes of whatever team he ends up on. Imagine the difference if he was with Mississippi State or Florida.

I think they have to give him the Heisman now, whatever the risk of more dirt coming out.

It felt like it was the Huskers game but I’ll take it. Gonna miss seeing these two play each other.

Washington won the CrApple Cup, meaning that at 6-6 they will finish 3rd in the Pac10. So, they will attend either the Holiday or Alamo bowl, where they will be undoubtedly crushed by a much better Big10 or Big12 team.

Looking at the bowl matchups, I have to say that most of the BCS bowls don’t look that interesting. Other then the championship game, only the Rose looks like a good matchup.

Meanwhile, there are some nice “minor” bowl matchups. A&M vs LSU at the Cotton. Mich St. vs Alabama at the Capital One. Florida St. vs South Carolina at the Chick-fil-a.

Funny that Washington gets a rematch against Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl. Lol. ;-)

Ha ha. Both teams have to be thinking “Why? What did I do wrong?” But for different reasons.

Can’t agree with that. Nebraska clearly dominated the first quarter, but after that, OU pretty much had their way with them. They just couldn’t seem to stick the ball into the end zone. Three trips to the red zone yielding a total of 6 points is pretty bad and kept Nebraska in the game–21 points from that would have yielded a blowout.

Nebraska turned the ball over what? 4 times? And it felt like more than that, plus there were at least 2 or 3 more fumbles that they recovered themselves. And they were shut out the entire second half.

The only reason the game was close–or felt close–was that Nebraska started hot and OU couldn’t convert TDs.

On another note: why don’t teams put more effort into getting a good kicker? The field goal is such an important point yielder, and yet it seems most teams don’t even bother recruiting, they just take a walk-on or something. Nebraska’s kicker is just flat awesome, and is going to make a ton of money in the NFL. OU’s kicker appears to have walked in without a clue what he’s doing. It almost cost OU the game.

You know darned well the BCS folks have been salivating for a chance to match MSU up against Saban lol.

Congratulations to Oklahoma and Stanford for your BCS Bowl wins!

Had to browse over to see where Georgia Tech ended up. Looks like the bowl is a throwaway, but they play Air Force! I’m definitely watching that for all the triple option action I can stomach on December 27th. It’ll be the last chance to enjoy it until August.

Rushing Yards Per Game Leaders
RK TEAM ATT YDS YDS/A LONG TD YDS/G
1 Georgia Tech 696 3924 5.6 73 30 327.0
2 Air Force 699 3815 5.5 59 40 317.9

Woo!

The spread attacks of Oregon and Cam Newton will help tide me over, unless both teams get jitters and become inept on offense.

Wow, Oklahoma really did get a walk-over, didn’t they? (now watch, they’ll find a way to lose the game).

that GT/AF game looks like great fun to me. As does the MSU/Alabama game, and the Ohio State/Arkansas game.

I just wish the game could have ended on a controversial call in OU’s favor. It would have made the message boards much more fun.

Mack Brown has made his sacrifices to the Texas gods, and Greg Davis was one of them.

Texas is lucky! I bet Addazio won’t resign and Urban Meyer won’t fire him. So Florida gets at least one more season of ineptitude.

The last time Oklahoma played in the Fiesta Bowl as a clear favorite against the Big East champion, they got beaten by 20 points.

Virginia Tech is actually pretty good. They will not be a doormat.
