So the wife-swap between Florida and Texas is complete. UT’s DC is now UF’s HC, and UF’s DC is now UT’s DC.

I didn’t realize it until now, but the level of college football that actually somehow manages to have a playoff, despite all the reasons we here about why we can’t have one at the top level, actually expanded this year. So now they invite 20 teams, play for four weekends starting after Thanksgiving, then take a few weeks off an have a championship game on January 7.
The level of hypocrisy in college football is beyond belief sometimes.
How do you bracket a 20-team playoff? 12 byes, and 8-teams in play-in games?

Yep, that’s how they do it. 8 teams play the first weekend and the four winners move on to the next round, which has 16 total teams.
Hahahahaha, the Big 10 commissioner told a Chicago radio station yesterday that they’re thinking of renaming the divisions from Legends and Leaders. Those are barely a week old, btw. And to think, they probably paid some consultation firm millions of dollars to get those names.
And all they had to do was name one “East” and the other “West.”

I saw Boise was up 48-40 on Utah today. It wasn’t until just now that I realized that was a basketball score.

Friedgen is out at Maryland and good ol’ Orangebloods says Mike Leach is going to be the new coach there.
As crazy as he is, Leach is too good a coach to be left unemployed. Plus, he can practice being a pirate on Chesapeake Bay.
Also, it looks like Neu is cleaning house at UCLA to save his own ass. The DC is fired. Chow’s probably next.

Apparently, Austin is no longer in the running to be Texas’ new DC. EVERYBODY PANIC
Sarkus’s article also points out Vandy’s new coach, who was the heir in waiting for Maryland. Anyone know much about Franklin? I don’t watch Maryland.
I’m glad the ACC has a couple of goofy coaches now. Maybe it will spice things up in that conference.
He’s a good OC. Maryland had no trouble hanging points on people. Also a good recruiter. That’s the extent of my knowledge. I don’t know how his qualities will translate to being head coach.

Oh look! Squeeky clean Ohio State just had a bunch of players suspended for the first five games of next year, including QB Terelle Pryor. But at least they get to play in the upcoming bowl game, because “they didn’t know it was wrong.”
Don’t you just love the NCAA?
;-)
How hard up do you have to be to sell a keepsake like a championship ring? I guess some sports stars have sold more important things than a Big 10 ring, maybe because they don’t care. But 2 grand for it is chump change. Time to start giving them a stipend.
I would never sell a championship ring. It’s not like it’s a participation trophy or something. This is actual jewelry for a serious accomplishment.

I wish the NCAA would have suspended A.J. Green for five games next fucking season.
It’s got nothing to do with being hard up. Its a) not really giving a damn about your team or its accomplishments, and b) just being a moron. Did you see what they did with the money? Used it to get tattoos. They weren’t paying the rent or getting grandma a Christmas present, they were getting more ink added to the copious amounts already on them.
Pryor is an ass, and the rest apparently are too. What really sucks is that their “suspension” is at the beginning of the season, when teams typically pay walk-over games. They should damned well suspend them for an entire season, or at least place the suspension mid-year, when it might mean something. Though in this case, at least, they are playing Miami and Michigan State before the suspensions end.

Another NCAA bullshit ruling. Suspend them for the bowl if you’re serious about it. What’s that? BCS bowls are a big moneymaker? Ah yeah, can’t let anything get in the way of making money- not for the actual athletes though.
Meanwhile, Cam Newton sits at home polishing his Heisman.
Nice post Benny. Hey guys! Internet guy thinks you’re a moron and an ass, now give the money back!

I dont understand how they are allowed to play in the bowl game. The NCAA is losing a lot of credibility.
