Who knows? Maybe it’ll be someplace he would rather play.

Note that I never said anything against Carolina.

So Michigan fired Rich-Rod and the coaching prospects are? Ughh.

Interesting article on the last time we changed coaches: http://blog.mlive.com/grpress/2007/11/whos_next_ums_looking_for_carr.html

They talked incessantly about Les Miles then too.

That guy was so wrong about what happened back then that I have no interest in wondering what he will write this time.

The scene at the FCS title game tonight; Delaware vs Eastern Washington. Delaware’s #1 fan is sad.

You know what the biggest joke about that is? That Eastern Washington couldn’t even sell out it’s home playoff games this season. Their stadium (which has red turf) can hold almost 12,000 and yet their playoff home games drew 3665, 4060, and 6600. All but that last total were lower then what any of their conference home games drew. They even sold out a conference game.

And yet they end up winning the title.

You can lead a team to victory, but you can’t make the fans buy tickets.

I know you didn’t; I wasn’t taking offense at anything. :) I just don’t think any first round pick (without a specific favorite team) would stay in school just to see if they got a better team the next season. The first pick is for the worst team/expansion teams by rule, so the odds are not in favor of coming into a great situation.

So are you guys excited about this bowl game? I’m talking about the one tonight between Nevada and Boston College, not that whatever thing tomorrow night. ;-)

There’s a game tonight? :)

I’m an Oregon alum, so tomorrow is my big day. Someone said Oregon is a 14 point underdog, which surprised me. An underdog I could believe, but 14 points seemed like a lot. Ah well, doesn’t really matter. They could be 90 point underdogs for all I care.

I’m an Auburn alum, and 14 points seems high to me too. I think it’s gonna be high-scoring and close.

Someone is wrong. The line is auburn -1.5.

I’m never starting a thread on College Football again.

ESPN is reporting that Miles is talking fairly openly about meeting with Michigan tomorrow about their head coaching vacancy.

I know very little about college football politics, but two things have me scratching my head:

  1. That Miles is discussing this sort of openly. Doesn’t stuff like this usually get leaked to start a behind-the-scenes bidding war? That’s what happened with Malzahn and Vanderbilt.

  2. That “a source close to LSU” told someone that LSU might be willing to reduce or waive the $1.25 million buyout on Miles’ contract. Miles has been very successful at LSU, including winning a national title. Why would LSU be willing to let him go so easily and cheaply?

These are not rhetorical questions. I really am this dumb about this stuff. :)

Miles is such an obvious candidate in this case that I think he’s just decided to be open about it. And not all moves are “behind the curtain;” a lot are done in very public ways.

Despite his success, Miles is not universally loved in Baton Rouge. Some people think he takes too many risks, for example. There was talk before the season that they might buy him out after the year. So there are people from LSU that would probably be happy to see him go - a “win win” from their perspective since they wouldn’t have to potentially look like morons for getting rid of a very successful coach.

The word I’m hearing is that this is a mutual breakup of sorts between Les Miles and LSU. LSU wasn’t 100% behind Miles so there’s talk that they might be willing to waive or lower the buyout to make it easier for him to go.

I didn’t know things were strained at LSU. Makes more sense now.

Poor AU fans missing their plane in BHM or ATL because of the freak Snowpocalypse of our own.

Don’t know if I am more excited or nauseatingly nervous about the game.

There’s no need to be nervous. Realize that the Duck mascot is going to go for a record number of push-ups, sit back and enjoy the ride :)

good for the nausea too

The general consensus seems to be for an Auburn victory.

I’m pulling for the Ducks, but I 65% expect an Auburn win. Final score: 42-41.

Or 85-83, as I said back in October.

Y’all have predictions?
