It was straight out of a ton of shows, from Sherlock/Elemental to Psych.

Will Graham is on some kind of spectrum, but it is not the autistic spectrum.

I’m pretty sure the archetypical autism detective is D’onofrio on Law and Order: CI.

In theory, Graham in basically the opposite of autistic: he has “perfect empathy”. In practice, he just straight up has super powers.

The showrunner describes him is “the polar opposite of autistic, super empathetic”. That’s on the spectrum, right?

Edit: dammit clwheeljack, didn’t see your post.

Just realized the botany teacher was Ben Folds.

I’m wondering if Prof. Duncan’s Dave Matthews Band fandom was in itself a joke. The band completely passed Britain by - he’s basically the American Pulp.

haha I loved seeing him in there. I realized who it was right off the bat and I figured it HAD to be him, because why else would you have a celebrity make a cameo?! But he was just a red herring.

…or was he?

I appreciated that they didn’t go the predictable route and replace the Dave Matthews references with Ben Folds Five.

Pretty sure the intro credits scene was most directly a parody of the opening credits scroll of Red Dragon, which has the “red word, white word, side by side” thing down exactly as Community did tonight. Other portions of the opener were straight up David Fischer Zodiac/Se7en, though (as were large parts of the episode).

Really loved almost every moment of this episode, including the ridiculous “crack bandit” song which was apparently written and performed by guest star Ben Folds.

And the entire thing was a callback to Annie’s run for student body president way back in Season 2, where she said she’d bring the “so-called crack bandit” to justice, which is pretty typical fare for a Harmon-showran ep in terms of incredible adherence to continuity.

Getting Duncan back was also a real treat, even if he doesn’t stick around permanently.

There was a lot of Hannibal in there, appropriately given the network. If I’m not mistaken, there was a set of deer antlers in the very beginning of the shot of the botanist’s room.

The stables, I think. Even got a bit of the newly female Lounds via Britta’s closer shot of writing a report/expose about the whole thing.

Just finished watching all three episodes of the new season. While none was the sort of masterpiece that goes down as a Community classic (D&D, Paintball, Pillows & Blankets, 8-Bit, etc.) they were all better than much of last season. The third episode, with the parody of the procedural crime drama, was especially funny. I’m looking forward to the show settling back into it’s groove and cranking out a couple more “classics” now that it’s back in Harmon’s hands.

Beautiful bottle episode. I loved every second of that. Their reason for taking Troy off the show is perfectly Community. I would expect nothing less from Mr. Harmon.

Yeah, that was one of the best episodes of any season. The dialogue was just fantastic. Rapid fire but hilarious throughout.

“In a church, Britta!? That’s where Jesus gets his mail!”

And of course, the semen.

Troy’s going off to sail a boat. Get it? He’s going to me a seaman!

There were a lot of great lines this episode. I think it was the funniest of the season, so far.

“If I wanted the government in my uterus I’d fill it with oil and Hispanics!” (paraphrase)

Truly an amazing episode. Both laugh out loud and balls deep.

Goggins’ scenes during the credits were priceless. He looked like he was having a blast.

I’m glad there are people out there to notice this sort of thing for me:

Big pictures

That’s just…wow.
