I think for me, the most amazing part is how well they got the cinematography to be spot-on. Law and Order has a very distinctive way its shot (at least to someone who watched 500 hours of L&O on A&E in college) and they had it down pat.
Yeah! I watched this yesterday with my girlfriend, who’s a HUGE fan of the classic – or in her words, “good, non-crappy” – Law and Order episodes, and she was REVELING in stuff like that. She commented on the camera work, the way certain characters behaved, the rhythm of the way it was shot and so on was all spot on. They apparently hit every right note.
I took the family up to Mt. Rainier on Saturday, and it wasn’t until I was looking at a display of mountain wolves in the museum that it suddenly dawned on me as to why the episode was called “Basic Lupine Urology.” I knew what lupine meant and I knew what urology meant, but for some reason I hadn’t put it together with Law & Order.
So awesome.
Chalk me up as another fan who really enjoyed BOTH the Mockumentary Pillows and Blankets and the Law and Order episodes. Both had me laughing out loud at the smallest details, such as seeing a familiar scene composition or dialog phrase. I loved the cameos, first by the narrator in Pillows and Blankets (weren’t you in The Cape?) and then by the coroner in the L&O spoof. Great stuff, and back to Community doing what Community does best.

Good episode, I think. I loved the ending at least, and I’m kind of curious to see where this goes. Wherever it goes, hopefully it won’t involve too much Chang.
Really? I felt the ending was a little saccharine for their usual tone. I was expecting some kind of joke cut through it at the end, but didn’t really get one. I guess I like my comedy a little meaner than a lot of people though.

I thought the saccharine tone was appropriate given the tone in the rest of the episode. It was a nice contrast at the end.
This week was my first off the fence: feels good to be a hatewatcher, particularly with only a few more episodes to get through in the season.

I normally love the show, but I thought this week’s was really bad. However, the video at the end redeemed it. That was awesome.
Starburns memorial video excepted, this episode was as terrible as last week’s was excellent. Everything that hasn’t worked for Community this season was highlighted in this episode. Chang craziness, Pierce irrelevance, callbacks to previous episodes, all it was missing was John Goodman peering menancingly from behind a potted plant.
I’m not sure where the writers are going with this, and it could turn out to be epic, but please please please don’t let it be the start of an attempt to turn Community into “something more”. It doesn’t need to be more anything, it was fine the way it was.
Definitely one of the weaker episodes. I did love Leonard picking through his choice subway toppings though.

Worst take is that Community (along with Parks & Rec and 30 Rock) are canned entirely, while the best is that they’re all getting half-season send-offs as a consolation prize.
I suppose the metric of “doing better than anything else on NBC” finally stopped being good enough when nothing on NBC was doing well for long enough :(
I think they need a 4th season to complete the story arc up until graduation, then end it there. Even if it’s a half season, I’ll take it. I prefer Cable/British length seasons anyway.
30 Rock just got the greenlight for its final season.
NBC also signed a deal with three of the Office stars to continue.
Glad the show is continuing. Too bad this episode today sucked.
I can see why Chevy Chase was pissed at the show writers a few weeks back. His role is really diminished and irrelevant now.
