100 is the number I’ve heard before, but it seemed high.

From what I’ve read*, 100 is the magic syndication number because that’s 20 weeks (assuming 1 episode every weeknight) without repeating an episode. I suppose the theory is that the audience will change the channel if they’ve seen a certain episode too many times.

*Probably from J. Michael Straczynski back in the usenet days of Babylon 5. That was before DVD box sets of TV seasons started taking off though, so maybe 100 episodes isn’t as important any more?

How are the extras on the Community DVDs? Are there lots of commentary tracks, and are they good? I’m trying to decide between picking them up on DVD and iTunes, since iTunes looks to be the only way to have them in HD.

Either every ep or nearly every ep has comentary, every disk has lengthy blooper reels, and the featurettes are pretty funny. From an extra fetures standpoint, these are awesome sets.

It is a bit depressing listening to Dan Harmon’s plans for season 4 in the commentaries. Otherwise the features are great.

Yeah, they announced a week ago or so that it wasn’t coming back just yet. Whitney was also not coming back, but with Animal … something or other (never heard of it) being scrapped, Whitney is now replacing that on Wednesdays.

I’m hoping they plan on scrapping another show on the bubble and replacing it with Community, hopefully one that isn’t on Fridays.
