I’ve not seen the Hunger Games either, but the gist of it is pretty clear I think.
If you’ve seen Battle Royale, the Hunger Games is basically the same as that, but not as good.

It’s been an inescapable pop culture phenom for a while now. Anyone who doesn’t get any of the references was probably only enjoying community at about half power or less anyway.
I also haven’t seen it, but it seemed to me that’s was just a reference in the title of the game. The games really seem a reference to the “American Gladiators” style of tv shows.
True, they’re probably kicking themselves for promising no more paintball episodes now that the Hunger Games is out.
I think the worst thing they could do would be making another paintball episode. It sounds too much like trying to copy the success of the previous seasons, instead of trying something new. I am really not hopeful for this new season in any case.

I would love to have seen an episode devoted to the moral struggles the builders of the Pillow Juggernaut experienced.

How about a halloween/zombie apocalypse/evil universe/paintball cross-over?
Or are they saving that for the movie - take my money now!
Well, they’ve done a DnD episode and an 8-bit videogame episode, so this season they should probably just go ahead and have a LARPing episode to let their costume department have some fun.

My fear is that many of the uber nerd stuff (D&D, Doctor Who references, Beetlejuice) has walked out the door with Harmon. He’s a huge nerd himself and much of his voice was in the scripts.
They could always go back and do any of the episodes in the flashback episode; I’d love to see the haunted house one, personally.
Shh… you had me at “How about”
I gotta say, the paintball episodes are some of my favorite moments in all of television that I have ever seen.
Nooooooo…That would ruin the joke!
Unless they did episodes where the things in the flashback explicitly never happen. That that might be okay. But I guess that’s kind of a given with Chevy gone.
Got an Amazon gift card for Christmas this year. Picked up the first three seasons on DVD. Watched season one this weekend, and all the extras. I had a unique experience with the extras. This might be the first show I’ve ever seen where I consider the show funnier than the blooper reel. Not that the bloopers/outtakes weren’t funny, but the show is so funny that watching the bloopers feels like I’m being robbed of the joke I should be getting.

Battle Royale kinda stinks too, to be honest.
Also, I thought of an amazing plot to an episode after chevy leaves.
What they do is have an ex-SNL alum (Dan Ackroyd?) come in and play Pierce for an episode. Nobody seems to notice the difference at first, but Abed picks up on it. They go for a while and abed figures out that they are in some sort of sitcom bubble, where they change the actor without mention (ala becky in roseanne, maybe a cameo?). Abed has to convince the others that the guy in their group isn’t pierce, despite this new guy’s excellent portrayal. It turns out that maybe Pierce was paying this guy to go to classes for him, and that he has left greendale for good.
Or something to that effect.
Obviously they should just use the doppleganger from last season.
Deanleganger?
Deanlechanger?

Bill Murray would be the appropriate choice, historically.

Good luck with that. Unless your name is Wes Anderson and/or you have at least one Oscar under your belt, Murray ain’t gettin’ off his golf cart.

Fwiw, I believe Chase filmed 12 of the 14 episodes before they escorted him out of the building.
