I liked the third-party perspective on the flashbacks. “Sorry, you cannot have the study room yet. Someone lost a pen.”

Felt like classic Community. A+

Yep, I loved it. And even better, the line was “nearly 100 luftballoons!”

Classic Community, imo. It could be said that it feels a bit too much like other episodes in past seasons, but being already in the 4th one it’s normal.

Catching up here. Agreed with everyone that the Hunger Deans episode was pretty terrible, felt way forced and only Fred Willard managed to elicit a real laugh out of me (love that guy in anything). Watched the halloween episode and thought it was much better. Pierce’s house was awesome! =)

EDIT : Just watched the Inspector Space Time convention episode. Classic. I lol’d all the way through. The bit with American Inspector Space Time at the end was great.

“Toby and Abed in the morning? That’s ridiculous. I’M NOT PSYCHO!”

Hopefully the episodes continue to improve as the team gets used to not having Dan Harmon around to fine tune everything.

EDIT EDIT : Watched the German trio episode and the Thanksgiving episode. Both felt like classic Community. We’re not nearly up tot he standards of Paintball, D&D or Pillows and Blankets, but it’s worth watching, and I think the potential is there for another all-time classic episode, even without Harmon.

Mild spoiler if you haven’t seen the episode from 3/14 yet

Does anybody else think something as heavy handed as the “MacGuffin Neurological Institute” is something Abed would have picked up on/called into question in seasons 1-3?

Yes. I was expecting it to be addressed.

Dumb meta vs smart meta.

Pretty crappy episode, apart from the Grizzly Man reference.

So “Marine Biology” : Knowing the history of Chevy Chase and the show, all that stuff with Jeff and Pierce seemed like it may have been a subtle way to bury the hatchet onscreen. I mean, Jeff’s comments to Annie and the Dean could have been talking as much about Chase as they were about his character. I’m probably reading more into it that is really there, but those were my first thoughts upon seeing those scenes.

“Get your damn hands off my Let’s!” - lol.
Also loved the mockeroom in PEE.

I’m pretty sure that the whole cast and crew (apart from Chevy Chase) committed mass suicide after the high of season 2. The seasons after their tragic and too soon deaths are just Chevys’ day to day ponderings about the economy and what he’s cooking for supper.

Probably fillet steak.

WORST. EPISODE. EVER.

I’m going to give it a few more episodes, but unless things drastically change I think I’m finished with Community. I only finished Season 3 recently and the change in quality from S3 to S4 was incredible. So disappointed :(

You wouldn’t think it was possible, but you can really tell there’s no self-destructive perfectionist killing himself behind the scenes to produce the show anymore.

I thought tonight’s ep was pretty cute. BTW, why is it that I find Gillian Jacobs cute as hell, but January Jones does nothing for me, although I recognize that she’s a beautiful woman? Maybe I associate the latter too much with her awful, broken character on Mad Men.

This was my favorite episode of the season. Lots of laughs.

They totally Britta’d that episode.

THAT’S RIGHT, I’M TAKIN’ IT BACK!

Yeah, another good episode. I loved the tag - are we really getting a puppet episode next week, or was that the joke?

Anyone else find Abed and that girl adorable?! I hope she’s a regular, she seemed like a fun character.

I am just catching up with Season 3 on Hulu, and there’s been a huge downturn for me around half-way through. Not sure what is going on. The last two or three episodes I don’t think I laughed at all, and Season 1 and 2 were mostly just distilled joy for me.

The characters all seem just a bit off. If I didn’t know better, I would say the showrunner departed in Season 3 at around episode 11, rather than in Season 4. Even before that, though, Season 3 wasn’t really up to par, but at least it had some good bits. Now, I’m just considering dropping it out of my queue.

Just me? Is there a bit of a lull mid-season that gets rectified and makes the later episodes worth my time?

Your experience seems to mirror mine. My favorite all time Community episode is the chaos theory one, but by the end of season 3 it felt like a noticeably different show even with Harmon. I’d say that there are some good episodes in the second half of S3, so it’s at least worth finishing. Season 4 so far, has been a shambling zombie Community. I keep watching mostly because of good comments like some of the ones above, and because every once in awhile it still makes me laugh. I’m pretty sure I’m done after this season, though.

No worries there; I’d be extremely surprised if this wasn’t the last season.
