Probably. The show hasn’t been officially cancelled, and recent interviews with cast members implied its future is still up in the air.

Liked the finale, but I’d probably be okay with it ending at this point.

Not the greatest season ever but definitely not the worst. There were some very good episodes and very bad ones in the season but I liked it well enough. If this is the end I’m fine with it but I would like to see them give it another season so everybody can make it to graduation.

Probably cancelled but who knows, it’s NBC. 30 Rock and The Office are done for and there were a few cancellations so I could see them keeping it on as a proven entity.

I caught the “six seasons and a movie” blackboard; I also thought it was a little telling that Jeff ended up getting his degree in Education, carving a path for him to return to Greendale in the future in a teaching capacity (should it get picked up again).

c’mon, c’mon, #sixseasonsandamovie

I’d like to see them do another season. Partly because its still better than most the junk on TV, but also because it felt like the new show runners were hitting their stride towards the end of the season. Their best stuff still wasn’t quite as good as Harmon’s best stuff, but it was getting a lot better. I would have liked to see this last episode be an hour long, or maybe a two parter. The “showdown” at the end between the timelines was kind of anticlimactic.

Rewatched the episode (day off work today, yay!) and noticed something else, which makes me wonder if they’ve been doing this for the whole season. In the scene where Jeff meets Darkest Jeff, the blackboard has “GCC#411” written on it. This episode, according to how they were recorded, was season 4 episode 11, if I’m correct. Dang it. Now I gotta go back and watch every episode and look out for this kind of stuff.

Aaaaand… I just checked wikipedia which confirmed all of this. I feel less cool now.

Got a little shot in the arm today when “Go On” got the axe. I think that makes Parks & Rec NBC’s only renewed comedy for next year so far, so the chances of Community getting that sixth season may have improved.

I actually really liked Go On, it got consistent laughs out of me. I just don’t get what audiences want anymore, I guess. I hope Go On’s departure means a better chance to see Community get renewed. I really liked that finale, that was pretty awesome.

I liked this season, as I mentioned before, I might not have realized Harmon was gone if I hadn’t read about it. But the finale wasn’t very good. It felt like someone trying to recreate Harmon’s Community without really getting it beyond superficial callbacks and gags, exactly what everyone spent the rest of the season worrying would happen. Again, enjoyed the season, and hope it gets picked up again, but meh to this episode. It’d be a shame to have it end like that.

Renewed.

Yea the episodes where they tried to clone Harmon’s Community didn’t work out so well. When they did their own thing it was fine. Maybe not up to the lofty heights of Season Two but was still good. And wow to it being renewed. Glad but it’s a bit surprising since I’m sure everybody assumed it was cancelled.

What saved Community was the fact that NBC is a hot mess and has so many timeslots on fire that Community was the least of their worries. A network can’t cancel every show, simply because it couldn’t produce enough new content to replace everything. Community’s ratings are still very small, but they’re steady, which can’t be said of a lot of NBC’s other shows. Plus, Sony TV (which produces the show) is BFFs right now with NBC, as it had three pilots picked up to series on the Peacock. Community was basically a goodwill renewal at this point.

It’s kinda hilarious, because not too long ago, NBC axed shows because they only pulled in 20 million viewers. How the mighty have fallen.

I think it helps too that Community will garner those ratings without much promotional push from NBC, thus saving that valuable air time for a new show that will fail spectacularly. Nellie Andreeva is reporting that there’s interest in bringing Dan Harmon back for Season 5. It’s all speculation at this point but she’s often a mouthpiece for Sony TV so she might have more of an inside scoop than most. This season seemed to be hampered by cost consciousness so I don’t know if he could fix that but his maniacal dedication to his show would certainly be welcome. I don’t think anything he was working on outside of the Adult Swim show got picked up so he’d be free. Fingers crossed.

I just watched the last episode, and meh, can’t say I feel hyped for more of this.

What a turn of events, Community was one of my favorite shows.

I really hope that Harmon rumour is true. I know I’m in the minority, but I felt that 75% of Season 4 was trash that genuinely wasn’t worth my time watching.

Same boat. Well, maybe more than 75%. ;)

Bring back Harmon!

Well, given that Chase is gone for good and I can’t imagine NBC even gives a shit about ratings at this point compared to filling a timeslot with SOMETHING, why not?

Could be again if the rumor about Dan Harmon coming back turns out to be true. That would be a wise move for NBC, as they only have Parks and Rec on the schedule for returning comedies and could really use something to fill a 30 minute timeslot that actually has established viewership, no matter how small.

Man, remember back in the day when NBC was the king of comedy? Must see TV? Indeed.

As for the finale, I was meh. I liked the callback to the dark timeline, but it felt rushed and underutilized. There was so much more comedy to mine from that, and it just fell flat. Maybe it should have been an hour long two-part episode. One thing I did really enjoy, evil Annie. SO HOT! Not just the red dress, but the facial expressions and everything. Wow.

Well, we still haven’t seen any sort of denial from Harmon. I’m hopeful!

That’s probably true. I didn’t realise how many shows NBC axed and had finished their run. While I’m still like the idea of another season I wouldn’t expect big things out of it. They’ll just give it the same limited budget it had this season and let it do it’s thing.
