I am kind of excited about this. I haven’t played a new MMO in a long time, and this one seems rather unique.
not really sure I could classify it as an mmo despite having a lot of similarities. there are no quests, and server structure is not an mmo at all really.
Yeah, I get it. So Funcom doesn’t run any servers for it? It’s all private servers or play solo?
they run servers, but servers are low population compared to traditional mmos, as in very few people at the same time.
I think official server cap is 70 atm.
Ours is 20 but easily raised if needed.
it’s definitely not 70, maybe 40? I’ll go check. people are constantly complaining it’s too low on the official forums.

I did like that river intersection under the big hand thingy… That seemed to have decent access to about everything.

I like the colony setting myself. I’m in on the build.
I was able to download and I started the game and got the start menu, then quit because I had to go to work. So it looks like I may be able to jump in this evening. I suppose I will be killed by the first desert mouse I run into until I learn how to play the game. I remember drowning in a fountain in EverQuest because I didn’t know how to swim when I first logged in. It will be baby steps for me.

That’s a good attitude to have, Mark. For these Survival games, just surviving really is a big struggle to start. You will die a lot until you get settled. Don’t get too attached to the items you’re carrying until you’ve got a home base, just replace what tools and resources you lose. You’re gaining EXP and knowledge along the way.
And be sure to ask questions! Always willing to impart survival tips for new Cimmerians!
Made my character and got in game, but haven’t moved yet. Will try to get some time in later.
I have no idea how to get there. Once I get in the game, will it be obvious when I look at a map? Can I pick my starting location so I’ll be next to it?
Is the dong and booby slider still in the game? I would never get out of the character creation menu if I owned this.
