Cops killing innocent people all the time. So sick of this crap.

Charges dropped. Jesus fucking Christ. It’s weird how some people have a negative view of police.
Cant we use “murder” or “execute” instead of “killing” accidents kill, cops do it on purpose.
Cops got a real hard on for murdering family pets and in the process killing the people they are there to “help."

I assume the only reason we even know the truth on this one is the body cam footage.
The first rule of police is obviously “Don’t call the police.”

Look, in order to protect our fine police officers from potential dog bites, we must give them permission to kill anyone and everyone in the vicinity. They have hard jobs and didn’t sign up for being barked at.
A serious question: would you follow this rule in your personal life? You wouldn’t call the police, in any situation? How many police calls were handled across the country, say this week alone, without a police-created problem?
The occurrence of any incident like this should be investigated and remedial action taken, but it seems extreme to swing so completely the other way. For me, these incidences would give me pause before calling the police to handle minor situations, but that doesn’t mean I want to live in a society without law enforcement. To be frank for me personally (and I suspect for many on this board, too) we just don’t need to interact with police with any regularity, or at all. That isn’t the case for large segments of society who are less fortunate.
Probably the dog was driving a car and refused to stop and get out.

I keep waiting to hear about cops being shot in the cop shooting thread, but its always the cops doing the shooting. Funny that.
Like you, I certainly would pause before calling the cops. In my mind, I wouldn’t call the cops in a potential conflict situation unless I was comfortable with the notion someone might come away dead.
I think I shared a story some time back where I witnessed a couple racist assholes harassing someone in a parking lot. One of them had a loaded gun rack on his truck, but hadn’t reached for a weapon. While I live in a fairly liberal area, I knew the stories all too well and was afraid the cops would go after the victim. I decided to call only after coming to the conclusion things weren’t going to de-escalate anytime soon, and the racist guy with the gun rack was getting wilder. He pulled away as the cops were coming, and I made sure to direct them after him. The victim gave a statement, but I wasn’t going to budge until I saw the poor guy leave unmolested by the cops.
The event made me think long and hard about people who would be even more afraid to call, especially in less “enlightened” regions.

How about “Don’t call the police unless you’re likely going to die anyways.”. I try to avoid interacting with police in any sort of way, given how final the results tend to be lately!
I think it depends on where you live, your sense of the local police and, unfortunately, the color of your skin, as well as that of your neighbors.

I used to believe the bad apples were a very small percentage. But after years and years of repeated offenses across the nation, that show no signs of diminishing, I believe it is far more than a few bad apples. Because any apple that lets bad apples do their own thing are they themselves a bad apple.
lol, what a horrible sentence. But I stand by that I simply do not trust cops and I genuinely feel bad for those who have to interact with them on a frequent basis.

I don’t really reach for the phone anymore, and I mostly did before when I thought there was a chance for serious injury or death.
If someone is mentally challenged or not white, I am not sure i would call then either. I am going to assume the cops will pursue the wrong person right off the bat, no matter what i say.
Won’t be none if ya don’t start none.
The last part of your sentence is the key. Most of us on this board can live with the luxury of saying “I wouldn’t call the cops”. I’m 44 and I can’t ever recall calling the police for anything, or needing to.
Personally, I don’t know that things are any worse now, with respect to the police, than they have ever been in the past. We obviously see more stories, but that doesn’t establish that these incidences are worse now.
No, it probably proves instead that black and poor people were always telling the truth about how cops treated them.
