Cops are more of a danger to others but we send them to deal with everything.

Also there is nothing preventing the mental health person from calling in the police if needed.

I think the problem is that if you send a cop along, the cop WILL escalate more often than not. It could work if the mental health person has authority though. Basically unless the MHP directs the cop to do something, they don’t do shit.

But that would never fly. The cops would get pissed that someone was giving them orders and when they escalated without permission the union would protect them from any consequences.
