Yes, but this is because, up until now, they’ve been allowed to kill everyone they meet. Take that away and they’ll be in real danger.

Being in construction work is twice as dangerous as being a cop. I guess they only live to be 28?
They need to give construction workers guns already!

Convenience store employees are at greater risk than cops and a better comparison.
Imagine if they were allowed to just murder people basically at will.
Like you go to pay for your gas and hot dog and the attendant just puts a round in you because he was scared.

They already have guns, the only thing is they shoot nails instead of bullets. It’s a travesty. Imagine what wonders we could build with real guns!
After reading that, I’d say his community is much better off with him not patrolling it.

…

Hmmm, I’m not sure I 100% believe the story this cop is telling.

Don’t search nail gun injuries if you’re at all squeamish.

I give it 80/20 that this is totally fake anyway. It really sounds like a made-up post meant just to generate clicks and cash from aghast right wingers.

Yeah, I wouldn’t play the obese card, if the cops I see are any measure.

Basically Greek Gods tbh.
Thing is, he complains about how they’re expected to be expert social workers, and psychologists, and judges/lawyers who know the law, and how that’s a tragedy- how can they possibly be expected to be so much? Which is the same thing many ‘defund the police’ folks are saying, just coming at it from the other direction. I mean he’s --><-- this close to getting it, but his head is so far up his own self-important ass he just can’t see what’s staring him in the face.

I wonder if a system where a social worker is given the power to write tickets (but not arrests) is paired with a cop, and they always have to go around buddy-buddy, the social worker runs the show in terms of how to handle non-violent encounters, the cop only comes out when there’s a need for more force. The social workers would be counted as police officers, and receive the cert so they can be hired/paid as such.
If we can’t trust cops to not be violent unnecessaily, keep them muzzled and on a leash so they only get used sparingly.
I think this has been tried a few places, with fairly good results (Think Eugene Oregon, it was somewhere in Oregon I believe)
There’s a reason that infantry and MPs are two different specialties in the military (and MPs have a lot fewer issues with violence)
A buddy movie based on this idea, but the cop in the pair is a robot.
Wasn’t me. I have a non-post flagging policy.

We need a good title, something like “Coprobot” or so.
