I’m starting to do things I haven’t done in nearly two years. Like flying somewhere. It’s similar to flying somewhere two years ago, except with added tension, more glowering at people who refuse to wear their mask correctly, and a load more having things stuck up your nose. Next week I’m flying from Australia to the UK. It’s my first international flight since February 2020. Am I nervous? Not really. Am I relaxed? Not really either. I’m doubled vaccinated of course, but not eligible for a booster yet (it’s only been just over 4 months since my second dose, and while some countries like the UK have a booster eligibility at 3 months, in Australia it’s 5 months). I have five PCR tests to look forward to before I’m done, but that’s necessary and a small price to pay really. My time in the UK will consist of seeing as few people as I can get away with.

Then in late January my wife and I are heading somewhere exciting for work (at last) and we go via Miami. That’s going to be quite an adventure, but if it’s the price of getting to do some cool shit again I guess that’s fine. We will both have had our boosters by then, thankfully.

Of course, two months is a long time in a pandemic, who knows what might change.

So, here in Denmark we are seeing a huge surge in numbers of infected, and as such, the third vaccine boost is now open after 4.5 month to all over 40. This coming tuesday, I’ll be getting my third shot, so yay!

I’ll probably also be the only one in the office, since the rest of the office is having a christmas party all day this coming friday, while wondering why more isn’t being done to this pandemic… sigh.

Got my booster jab yesterday. Went for Moderna after getting AstraZeneca (first) and Biontech/Pfizer (second). Always was waiting for side-effects to kick my butt, but even the third one gave me basically nothing.

The GF got her booster Sunday and has had zero side effects other than the injection site being a bit sore. I was feverish for two days when I got it. Everything about Covid is strange.

As usual, we are way behind with the boosters here in the Netherlands (as if they didn’t see this coming somehow?). I’ll probably be able to get mine somewhere next February, when this wave is about done…

I got my booster today (3x Pfizer) - feeling fine but we’ll see later this afternoon, I took an unusually long nap the last time.

Here in Ontario, they have just opened up the booster to people over 50 (before it was over 70). I was lucky enough to get it Monday. Im supposed to be going to a family Christmas on Saturday but I’m really getting concerned with the spread of the new variant and the number of new cases. Eh, I have gifts wrapped, I’m bringing desert… I honestly don’t know what to do.

Assuming everybody is fully vaccinated and nobody is immunocompromised, I wouldn’t worry about it.

My read is that everyone is gonna get omicron at some point, but it seems largely innocuous for vaccinated non-immunocompromised people. And if not, it’s still pretty rare here in the west for the immediate future, although that will not last. Maybe not even to Christmas.

I heard someone say that it’s irresponsible to be out in public without the booster shot. Except I can’t get one for a least a month in the Seattle area. All these sites say they have it in stock and then won’t let me make an appointment.

I don’t know if it’s the same there, but here in MA I couldn’t get an appointment sooner than two weeks until I did it through CVS Minute clinic (not the normal way CVS tries to schedule you). They only book 2 days out, so if you go at the beginning of the day you can get something for day-after-tomorrow.

I assume there’s a huge uptick in people getting boosters right now for obvious reasons.

I had my booster Tuesday, with a 2 week lead on the booking.

You might want to check with local government and local hospital systems. I know that it’s pretty hard to schedule an appointment through CVS/Walgreens/etc here but a local hospital system is doing walk in days and my wife was able to stop by and was out the door in under 30 minutes.

Super easy at Bartells. Made an appointment for my whole household last week, went in yesterday and we all got Moderna boosted…arm hurts, a bit tired, but done for another 6 months!

Maybe try signing up in this

Or you can look at the list here, and some of these take walk ins

Thanks, but I am north of King County and I already did a bunch of research. My county has a site, I have been to the federal site, etc. I do have an appointment, it’s just 4 weeks out. Nothing I can find is sooner. The problem is a bunch of these sites say “in stock” but they actually aren’t in stock or they don’t have appointments available (that’s what I am confused about, why does everyone say they have it but don’t seem willing to give it to me, a shot takes 2 minutes).

I am a vet, but not treated by the VA, so the VA told me to go to my healthcare provider, but my healthcare provider is not doing shots. I will be at a medical clinic tomorrow, so I will ask, but the last one I went to did not have any. There are some walk in places, but nothing close.

Family/friends have confirmed the same thing, it’s not easy to get a booster here currently.

Regardless, I am content to wait for my appointment. I was just surprised that people expect everyone to have the booster, but it just isn’t that easy yet. According to my Denver coworkers, same thing there.

Just went to their site, no stores in my area have it.

Ah sorry man, I tried but sounds like you’ve already done the scoping.

Yep. I appreciate it thanks.

Travel to Stanwood…got my kid in next Wednesday.

I had to look up Stanwood, never heard of it. I’ll wait thanks. I am sure if I traveled around I could find a walk in somewhere. I was commenting more on the oddness of it all. Why do all these places say in stock but it takes a month to get in when you try to make an appointment?
