I had my final follow up with my doctor, post hospitalization, and was determined to be covid free, finally. Since I was clear of covid, my doctor advised me to go to my pharmacy immediately get the booster. She called ahead and advised them of my situation and they gave me the shot pretty much as soon as I walked in the door. I got this on Monday and the “side effects” were definitely stronger than what I experienced after my first two shots. I felt pretty crappy until this morning but now the worst of it has subsided. So just a heads up for those of you who are getting the booster. If you experienced mild flu like symptoms after your first shots, you will likely get hit a bit harder with this one. To be clear it wasn’t terrible, I just felt crappy for a few days so dont avoid it. Just take into account that you may need a day or two of limited activity after the booster.

Hmm, that was my experience after the second shot. I’ve been wondering how the third would hit me.
I just bought a good electric clipper set and I cut my own hair now. It helps that I don’t care much how it looks and that I’ve been a short hair guy for a long time just because of the convenience of it.

The local place where I get my haircut still requires masks at all times, customers and employees. The mask only gets lightly adjusted for trimming around the ears.
Yesterday I found out my friend the stockbroker has covid. He went to lunch with a client who was nice enough at the table to tell him he had just tested positive for covid. What a jerk. I found this out while playing golf with an old friend who spent a good deal of time telling me how we know nothing about covid and how its a scam. Idiot.

Wow, that is beyond the pale. He tested positive for covid then went out to lunch?

Re: Haircuts. I had my wife cut my hair once in 2020. Never again.
In 2021 after getting double vaccinated I finally got a haircut. Such a relief.
I’ve been delaying it since delta variant is so prevalent here in the local area. Now that numbers have started to plateau, and maybe start dropping again, I think another trip for a haircut will be soon. Before we get a winter surge of cases.

There must be some personality type that manifests in the satisfaction of being able to give people covid, and they just have to take it because they like/need your money too much. Uncool.

Scheduled my booster for next week just in case it’s a return to the bad old days, but I expect to stroll into a pharmacy tomorrow morning and get stuck. Will get the flu shot at the same time if they let me.

Let us know how it goes, especially in terms of side effects. My leaning is to go try to get both at the same time as well but if I’m going to end up flattened I’d like to know about it in advance for planning purposes, you know?

I didn’t know this year’s flu shot was already out.

I got the flu shot this morning, COVID booster is thursday.
It’s always available starting Septemberish. Ideally you get it sometime from late September through October.

Just got the booster. Decided not to double up with the Flu at the same visit, I’ll wait a week or two just to minimize side effects.
I wish I could request something other than a shoulder for the injection site. It’s got to be one of the most annoying joints to get sore. So far it’s the only big side effect I get, but it’s like “can’t lift a glass to drink” sore for a few days solid.

Got my second jab of Astrazeneca today. So I should be fully immunized in around 2 weeks. Good news.
I had no reactions to the first dose, other than some mild pain on the location of the jab. And so far all I have is some mild pain around the injection site, but I’ll let you know if that changes. ;)

Very nice! Neither my wife or I had anything but localized soreness at the injection site with our Pfeizer shots, so hopefully its the same for you.

I’m now boosted on Pfizer! Man, the difference from March was huge. In March I had to wait in a room with 200 other non-vaccinated people for over four hours for my shot, wore a N95 for the whole time, miserable, it was a total shitshow. Today I strolled into CVS, got my shot immediately, waited 15 minutes, and was on my merry way.

Glad to see everyone getting boosters. We have a trip to Reno starting tomorrow, after that I’m looking to schedule my booster and flu shot as well. I love the peace of mind that the two vaccine shots have already given me, I really can’t wait to do it again. There’s been waaaay too many getting the delta variant around here.

October… which is more important to get first, flu shot or covid booster?

You can get them both on the same day. I got my flu shot a couple days before, as they weren’t quite doing pfizer boosters yet and I was in the pharmacy anyway.
Reaction to booster is same as first two shots, sore upper arm. Nowhere near as bad as Quaro, it’s now the next day and I barely feel it, and I never felt the need to take a painkiller. Everybody’s reaction is a bit different.

I had some mild muscle pain during the day, but that was it. I’m also feeling tired but as I’m tired all the time, I have no way to know if there was that kind of side effect. :)
All in all, not too bad, I’d say.

Yep. My guess is if you got kicked in the teeth by your second dose, the third will feel a lot like that.
