I said it made sense and it was wise to let the boffins do the talking because then its scientists not politicians talking. I meant 10 weeks not 10 days is all. Its still being criticised by medical professionals though, and why are scientists with just as good credentials from countries behind us on the curve like Ireland recommending harsher measures?

Oh, absolutely. But there are a couple of reasons to hope that they’re on this:

  1. Mitch, for all his bluster, knows what happened in 2008 when Boehner couldn’t deliver the Republican votes in the House on the first stimulus package, and

  2. The Dow dropped 2,350 points today, even with a mid-day announcement of the Fed infusing $1.5 trillion into the economy. Another such drop tomorrow and the Dow will close below where it stood on January 19, 2017. And that is apparently finally making the President take notice.

DeWine is as close to an old-school Republican as you can find these days. He’s still a GOP turdmonkey, but he at least cares about the people of Ohio and is doing all the right things to try to protect all of them proactively. He gets a solid “A” from me for his actions thus far. His plan even accounts for the students who will be missing out on the school lunches they may be dependent on. I wish it had provisions for working parents as well, but Ohio can’t do everything by itself, Federal action is desperately needed if states are going to start closing schools and asking people to self-quarantine.
