Maybe he should be appointed temporary president

You can literally do nothing for a living. It’s unironically Zen.

Good for him.

Donald Trump could be a superspreader if he has it. But then the thought of him in isolation in the bedroom with his phone and Twitter…

And Sophie Trudeau got it from UK. Wow. Admittedly she probably met a lot more people than an average person.

He totally got tested. He’s a world class pussy and just wants to look unconcerned.

Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi tests positive for C-19, so it seems like every player on the club will also go into isolation.

Have to think the season is called later this morning.

I think the opposite, he’d rather not know. He’s full on in the denial stage. Now I do bet he’s scarfing vitamins and medicine like crazy.

“medicine”

Adderall is, technically, medicine.

I actually think the UK is right on their philosophy on this.

I do think the coronavirus is going to become less transmissable in the summer, though it will still be around (that’s normal for said family of viruses), and I do think fatigue is going to set in on all the restrictions.

I don’t know if immunity happens with this virus, given that folks seem to be able to get it twice.

I went to the grocery store one last time today. For whatever reason after I got back I felt like this was a mistake.

It may have changed, but it was only one person who had issues with his immune system.

They may be right about postponing (so that there aren’t multiple peaks), every country is at a different stage, but that’s it. And with all the travel, they must be ready to change at any moment.

The primary data point I’m interested in is Number of Posts in This Thread Per Hour. Hopefully the world lets us slow the f down relatively soon.

Deep breath. One day at a time.

Crazy few days. I’m in Atlanta, having flown here Wednesday morning from Seattle for my partner’s best-friend’s wedding on Saturday. Since I’ve been gone:

  • the Governor in WA has declared all gatherings of more than 250 people canceled.
  • All schools in Seattle and neighboring cities have been canceled for at least 6 weeks which hugely affects my girlfriend, who has shared custody of her 11 and 13 year old, and my landlady/housemate/roommate who has a similar arrangement for her 10 year old.
  • Local restauranteur Tom Douglas has announced the closure of all of his restaurants for 2-3 months, directing all his 800 employees to file for unemployment.
  • Trump is making noises about restricting all travel to and from places like WA. I hope that doesn’t go into effect before I fly home on Monday.

At least the farmer’s markets where I have my business are still open- we regard them as ‘open-air grocery stores’, and aren’t subject to the ban on events (and we have confirmation fro state/local governments). Of course, we don’t stock toilet paper, so who knows if anyone will come out. Good times.

My best friend is the Clinical Services Director for a fairly large-ish ambulance company in the Greater Boston area. She’s also the Infectious Disease Control officer for the company. I asked her the other day what exactly that entails in context of an ambulance company. She rattled off a whole bunch of things that I won’t bore you with here, but mentioned that she also has to make sure that they always have enough protective gear, including n95 masks. That gear has to be inspected annually, and every single person has to have them fit tested annually. Even something as simple as someone losing a bunch of weight can affect the fit of those masks.

And just the other day she had to have an argument with one of her paramedics about him having to shave his beard. (He insisted that the mask works fine over his beard. She insisted that, no, it in fact, did not. At least not the kind of beard he had.) It’s incredible how people who should know better will still argue these things. And it’s also somewhat terrifying.

And hockey was shut down

This is good advice. As we’re urged to stay home and avoid human contact it’s going to take a toll on our emotional well-being when there’s nothing to do but sit idly and read horror stories on the internet. This has been a rough week and I cannot wait to get into some nature this weekend.

Absolutely! My daughter got to bring home her school laptop today and she immediately jumped on facetime with her friends to plan an expedition to the creek down the street this weekend. They made a list of items to bring and everything. Kids know how to do this.

And may I also recommend a rewatch of My Neighbor Totoro with the kids? A soothing balm for the soul.
