So, the awesome molecular biologist that gave the talk today said there are a number of different ways of extracting RNA. The problem is that many of them don’t scale, and/or have toxic chemicals where you’d need to work in a fume hood and be pretty careful, which means perhaps not as many people would be safely do that work, and it would be scary to do as a drive through process.

I’m sure RNA extraction kit providers will be able to scale up - we offered our kits (we can do it the other ways) and reportedly they said “Thanks but we’re good now”.
