On Bainbridge the schools are only into their second day of shutdown and my daughter already has a bunch of homework assigned online.

Sure true. But schools are closed. Workplaces are closing. People are going to be out of work and not able to get childcare. Also, some people will get sick and some will even die of this. Testing is great, but what about a disease response? What about people’s livelihoods?
OMG. Business is good for CVS, so that’s great for the country & yay Trump!

That’s not the point at all. You get tested so that you don’t infect other people, not only for yourself…
Was it just me or where there only 3 American reporters? Everyone else seemed to be foreign reporters asking irrelevant questions.

I strongly suspect that while the website itself might be up shortly, it won’t be connected with any actual testing sites for quite some time (4 weeks…)
That is the fiscal stimulus bill that is being negotiated between Steven Mnuchin and Pelosi. Trump, did bitched about Democrats being greedy, but he wasn’t as nasty as normal, so by Trump standards he was nice.

And how exactly are the Dems “greedy”? I know it’s his statement and not yours, but you see the problem with that? The “greed” is… getting more testing, unemployment benefits, SHIT PEOPLE DESPERATELY NEED. That’s not being greedy, that’s fucking governance.
EDIT: This is sounding like I’m having you defend it or angry at you, I’m not at all on either count. I’m just angry at this. It was the most important part of the press conference and the GOP is being an obstacle AGAIN.
Who knows. There is clearly a financial incentive for Roche, the diagnostic labs, and Google to get this done as quickly as possible. My guess is a two weeks, but I’m pulling a number out of my ass.
I will say my confidence that these private companies can do this quickly is way way higher than this administration could do it.

so, the idea is basically, if you get advised by the online form to do a test, you drive down to a Walmart parking lot and do the virus test? Then what? Go for shopping since you are already there ;)

I didn’t see all of it, but I think that went better than yesterday, from what I did see. They had some smart people up there telling the truth about what’s going on, for a change.
I mean yeah, the President specifically said to the American people that he takes no responsibility for anything, but that’s nothing new.
It does seem like Trump has maybe moved past his focus on keeping the infected number low, which was hurting our response.
$40 billion in disaster funds is a good start. We need congress to pony up something in the neighborhood of $750 billion more to help actual people through this.

All I’m saying is that I expect the market to drop from +700 to -500 during Trump’s speech instead it went up to +1900. The content of the speech actually deserve some praise. Objectively it was D level performance, but by Trump standards it was A.
Edit: started responding before your edit. You are frustrated, it is Trump.
Like the ones in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan! That would explain a lot.

The government basically just ceded its coronavirus response to private industry. I wonder if those CEOs up there know that if things don’t quickly get better they will be scapegoats.
As long as the fellatio is metaphorical it’s totes okay.
Do they give a flying FUUUCK since they will surely escape with giant golden parachutes even in case of abject failure? It’s become the American fucking way since Reagan.
