Your flights will almost certainly be cancelled though, right? Once they are canceled, you should be able to get a refund for them from the airlines. I just went through that with Iberia, now waiting for Emirates to wake up and cancel a flight from Madrid to Dubai so I can get a refund for those.

In DK, they’ve had thefts of alcohol and protection equipments from hospitals, including one very serious robbery where three masked men stormed a hospital. They’re now stationing security at some of the hospitals.

Romney is interesting. I wonder if after his impeachment vote he’s just made up his mind to do the right thing instead of toe the party line, or if its just that this is an extraordinary circumstance. Just seems like a highly unusual policy proposal from a Republican, especially without demanding restrictions on abortions or corporate tax cuts at the same time.

Switzerland today:
- Restaurants and bars closed.
- All stores except grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations closed.
- All public and private events of any size are forbidden.
- Border control established with all neighboring countries.
- School closures extended further out.
The stores were stripped totally bare a bit before noon. Even the toilet paper hoarding which we’d so far avoided was in full swing.
My sister in France is now in self-quarantine, after having lunch with her boss who was soon after diagnosed with Covid. I’m really worried; she’s got some chronic respiratory issues, so she might be at high risk despite her age. And the French health care system is obviously about to be overrun.
I think he’s just endlessly flexible, able to conform himself into whatever he thinks is the popular view. So as Massachusetts Governor he was mostly a centrist moderate, as a Presidential candidate he was a play to the base conservative-leaning-toward-unhinged, and as the perpetually-safe Senator of a Trump-hating state he goes with the popular anti-Trump stance.

A pediatrician friend mentioned yesterday how people keep stealing the hand sanitizer they have out in their office.
Curious, what is being done with transit flights? I.e. if someone was flying from Spain to the US but had a transfer in Zurich, would they be allowed? This must be creating havoc for many people trying to suddenly get home.

I don’t know. His impeachment vote was not popular here (except among Democrats, obviously). And “give everyone $1000” is the type of thing that makes people in this state howl.
It’s not. His net approval here was 11 in March, or right about the same as South Carolina. I will say that there are people here who voted for him that do have qualms about a lot of his, uh, qualities but it’s still a state where his fans outnumber his detractors. The impeachment vote didn’t win him very many friends as Republicans are furious and Democrats are still probably going to be likely to vote Democrat.
Imagine how much you have to hate other people to oppose “They get a thousand bucks, but you do too”.
Governor Wolf just shut down PA. All non-essential stores, restaurants and bars are to be closed. No public gathering.
