Given our countrymens fetish for property, I suspect some form of mortgage and rent relief is incoming.

I mean, you can’t have mass evictions.

On the other hand, I have to pay certain bills…

Is Anglican water or EoN or the local council going to understand if I stop my direct debits?

That’s one way to enforce it.

Which country?

But hasn’t the government done a volte face ?

All they done is put us where the rest of the world was last week. “avoid” bars, restaurants but they remain open (forced closure would force compensation and insurance claims but if the industry dies naturally that’s just free market) . mass events arent insurable but allowed to go ahead, again, these are economic driven decisions.

Everyone’s interpreted it as it being fine for now and let’s go out because good old Boris will save them and they can get one up on the Libs by dying or killing their grannies.

My town has its charity half marathon thing on Sunday, 1000s of sheep packed together. Idiots

The locked down country is Equatorial Guinea. Someone went to Madrid and bought it back and the dictator wants to be dictator for life and he’s not fucking about. Anyway, with any luck Ebola-chan will kill the coronavirus.

Here is an example of the problem we will have.

My wife’s best friend sent here a long txt message last night saying the following. Her husband got made redundant last week and started his new job yesterday. She works at the hospital in a support role. Her eldest son who is 13 came home from school yesterday and has a temperature of 38.6. They also have a younger son aged 8.

They feel it’s not Covid-19, they are not staying home, the kid will stay home alone and the others will go to work / school as normal. They can’t afford the husband to lose his new job and she can’t afford to be away from the hospital and they have no one to look after the little one so he is off to school…

They know my wife has cavities in her lungs and is in the higher risk category but does this affect their thinking, nope we will carry on as normal and screw everyone else.

To add my wife is a teacher and yesterday they had twins at her school come back from a 2 week holiday in France want to come back to school and were very insistent, the school had to get public health involved to get them excluded for 2 weeks. Due to the high risk to my wife I think she is going to be sent home from Friday to work from home permanently which will be a relief.

Unfortunately you cannot ask people to do the right thing, you need to make them.

This country is full of scum. The culmination of everything that is going in in this thread and the Brexit thread. Racism was rampant before it appeared and has got worse.

“A man elbowed my rib, intentionally pushing me to the side, the female partner then shouted racial abuse saying: “at least we are whites you f * * * ing c * * * . ”

Including my flat mate who has his 2 kids stay over every other week… :O

The government don’t give a shit about us, just profits, and their supporters are happy to kill their grannies to get one up on the libs. We all knew this was the case when they were cheering on No Deal and the loss of pharmaceutical imports. “Killing your granny to own the libs” is a sentence already written in the Brexit thread and here we are again.

We’re also surrounded by degenerate, self centred, immoral, unethical fucks who don’t care about anything but themselves and their own amusement and pleasure. Golf, pubs, fun runs etc aren’t anything like work attendance worries. It’s purely selfishness.

Yeah, this is really bringing out the worst in bad people. We have seen thefts of hand sanitizer, masks and protective gear(!?!) from child cancer wards in hospitals. I mean, that is almost reason for disqualification to participation in the human race.

But on the other hand, it also brings out the best in good people. Several volunteer groups have materialized offering help with shopping, cleaning, etc. for those in high risk groups isolated at home. Some have offered to work for free in the hospitals with whatever is needed. Including retired nurses and doctors.

Your flatmate shouldn’t see his kids? How old are they? You can’t really stop being a parent because of the virus.

I know what you are saying, but I’m not sure the solution is that obvious.

All my regular foodie meccas are fucked, poor guys. The industry has had it and the govt has fucked them.

Vote Tory, get Toried.

The 2 hospitals my father was going to have his procedures in cancelled all visitation for the the next two months. That was the final straw, and he will be postponing the procedures till after the pandemic crisis (hopefully) abates. Needless to say, my whole family is severely relieved.

He should see his kids, but take measures to prevent them passing stuff on.

He has TWO other locations he can go and stay at, but upto now he has chosen to rent from me, because the convergence of rent price, space available and room to do his own thing (I am there maybe one week a month, max, when I’m attending the reserve forces fully.)

His other options are to move back in with his parents, who have a lovely house with a garden - but then he wouldn’t be master of his domain - or move to the farm where his girlfriend lives (same issues.)

So I understand why he wouldn’t want to move out, but my priority is me. That sounds selfish, but I am no good to anyone if I am also ill.

Rightly so! You neither want to become ill or become a vector for others around you. As your flatmate is renting from you (rather than both of you renting from a third party), it’s definitely more a situation where you should be able to discuss what you feel comfortable with. It’s your place after all.

Not sure what the other logistics (work, space for the kids, …) would be of your flatmate moving out. Sounds like a big change for him. And it’s really hard to ask a dad not to see their kids. They kinda matter to their parents. :)

Anyway, hope you get to a satisfactory solution.

Quite an accomplishment to be born ‘white’. Wonder what else that trash has accomplished in her life?

I don’t mind British in Spain trashing beachs and that stuff. We need their money for our economy. And the sun is indeed, great. I care more about their health.

British: please continue coming to Spain, you are wellcome here.

They are talking about the provinces of Lodi and Bergamo, not the towns. These are both big populations! Lodi is 230,000 people, and Bergamo is more than a million.

The number of infected people in Lodi is 1,133, which means that the percentage of people in the population infected is about 0.5%.

The infection rate in Bergamo is about 0.2% (2368 cases out of 1.1 million).

I don’t know about you, but it seems unlikely to me in the extreme that what is limiting the number of cases in either province is the size of the overall population.

I am a landlord also. One of my tenants I expect to be at risk for a layoff. The other not so much. We will work with them if an issue comes up.

That makes me so happy that I live in rural country.

I wonder if the condescending tweeter holds down multiple jobs and lives paycheck to paycheck like many of these folks probably do. My guess is no.

I normally vette things like this way in advance of others taking them seriously. I have to say, i think you are right, and embarrassed i didnt think of it.
