Yeah, really odd. They don’t have enough tests, yet always have enough tests when someone famous might have it. So strange…

Again, if the hospitals collapse, then people will be terrified of catching it, because they know there is extremely little hope for treatment.

Which gets us back to where we are currently.

I made a pie chart of how many famous people are getting tested vs how many not famous people.

Except the whole point of what we’re doing is to prevent hospitals from collapsing.

Here we go.

here we go

Yeah, and the argument is we’re killing the economy by doing what we’re doing.

Except the economy is fucked if we all go back to work, because it’s going to get out of control. Tons of dead and dying people. No one getting treatment for anything. Heart attack? You’re fucked? Major accident. You’re fucked.

And you still think people will go to work? Knowing if anything happens there’s no hope for treatment? Knowing if their vulnerable loved ones catch it, they’re doomed?

I wonder how he explains how the hospital systems in multiple cities have become overwhelmed with this plague. In the absence of good data, those anecdotes seem important.

You can say that about anything in the future. The fact is, humans develop immunities to viruses. We are also very smart and good at developing vaccines. There is next to zero evidence to this one being different.

My gut response question to that is “How much do I have to pay to kill your mother?”

Sometimes I regret that my hobby surrounds me with guys well-versed in gaming out all these post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, Children of Men, zombie apocalypse type scenarios.

Inconceivable! Perhaps none were Rush fans or they just want to deny reality.

Mississauga is like poster child for this song.

They’ll go to work because living on the street is far more of a threat. I’ll be honest you’ve sort of lost me at this point. I’m not even sure what you’re suggesting or what your stance is. Probably on my end.

Clay strikes me as the sort of guy that already has a number. And that number is probably low 6 digits at best.

This is a slightly different, but maybe related topic:

I was listening to NPR this morning because I’m a communist socialist dog, and there was some discussion about how this event might be the moment where science is so important for survival that the american public actually starts to listen to scientists a little more. This whole thing is a shitshow, but maybe a silver lining?

Related, if there’s a vaccine, what do you think anti-vax people are gonna do?

Wait until enough other people take it then go back to their life as it was, including telling people how stupid they are for using vaccines?
