this has been on facebook for a few weeks.

Richard Burr can die in prison. (of course he won’t, since there is no justice for privileged assholes)

It’s possible nobody else on this forum understands the second sentence. Is it something about cargo flights continuing?

What I got out of that is flights under 18,000 feet will have to operate on visual flight rules. That would greatly restrict all air traffic.

Edit: I only speak a bit of plane.

My apologies, I forget that common language to me is Greek to those not in the field.

And Thrag is correct. This would be concomitant with a cancellation of almost all scheduled air traffic. It is being floated as a proposal for containment purposes, and to avoid wiping out the ATC system as it’s already poorly staffed.

When it comes to any means qualification I’d hope it’d be on the back end, when you file your taxes, rather than on the front end where first it is determined who gets it.

Make it a no-interest loan rich people have to pay back next year if nothing else.
Just give it to everyone and sort it out later via the IRS imo.

/me Takes a moment to laugh at the Bernie Bros who thought the GOP proposal was going to be left of the Democrats.

Yeah, sort everything out with tax tweaks later. That will let fine-tune the distribution however you want. For now just fucking MAIL THE CHECKS TO EVERYONE. JESUS CHRIST.

If you want to deduct 600 later, just do it later with taxes. FUCK THIS SHIT. OMG.

Exactly. This shit is dumb, we’re talking about mass unemployment and businesses going under. What you made in 2018 has no relevance to what is happening now.

Just send the damn checks. It’s not money lost, it works its way back into the economy. And why would they be concerned with better off people getting checks when they’re borrowing $1 trillion a year to give them tax cuts?

Just send a check per person, no bullshit, red tape, or bureaucracy.

There were a bunch of posts on reddit yesterday with links about Pelosi being against direct payments. More agitprop, readily consumed by those who love a slice of outrage on their confirmation bias sandwich.

What Hal is talking about here is that our air traffic control system is already understaffed. Air traffic controllers are hard to train and it’s an incredibly high stress job to begin with. We can’t quickly ramp up and put new ones in place if they become sick in large numbers. They also work in close quarters so they are susceptible to having a single infection take out most of an airports traffic control capacity all at once. They are a prime example of a critical infrastructure worker.

If we reduce air traffic control load now, and can reduce shifts and reduce exposure and keep controllers in reserve so to speak it might prevent breakdowns of the system due to lack of controllers. The move now would seem to be to basically eliminate passenger travel and reserve capacity for cargo travel because movement of critical supplies will remain essential.

Seems like a smart move. It also sends yet another signal to the public saying “Stay the Fuck Home”.

Our whole air travel system is critical infrastructure. If it needs to go in bubble wrap for a while, then I hope they do the right thing.

I also hope there’s a plan to continue moving critical cargo around.

And of course the brilliant GOP plan will pass over the people that make more money but live in a high cost of living area, aka blue states. So looks like they’re still operating well within the party’s handbook here.

Is the money from those paid back later or it’s basically a gift?

The only way this works is if states also prohibit evictions/ foreclosures during this period. The federal government can probably put together a good estimate of the price of calories from one area to another, but adding in considerations for the housing costs in SF vs Bakersfield would get too complex to move quickly.

Our local power company already announced there will be no turn-offs or late fees for nonpayment for a while.

BAH is calculated for the military for most areas due to the need of it for recruiters. You could use that as a baseline.
