Mind if I copy that to the non-P&R thread? It’s well put. Whether or not this comes to fruition, who knows, but it shows that they are looking for ways to limit the spread among the NAS (the nation’s airspace system, which includes the people). Even when I was at a low-level terminal facility a while ago in my career, it still took us about 18 months to fully qualify previously-rated controllers, with a success rate of about 74% at the time.
It’s a sucky place to have COVID moving around, for the reasons you mentioned, and plenty of places are working rattler shifts with mandatory 60-hr weeks.
However, with the folks in charge being who they are, I’m sure they’d be willing to sacrifice a few for the team. I do not know what else they might do, though.

I think this got linked previously in this thread; this effect is small and the statistical methods they used to pull it out are suspect given the small number of cases they are using.

Sure. I’m glad I got it right.

The initial Seattle Flu model was it was doubling every 6 days. Washington remains on track. We were at 904 three days ago. We’re now up to 1,376, with 74 deaths.
He should apologize to each of his constituents with COVID-19. Personally. Without wearing PPE.

While their family members watch, with baseball bats, and security leaves for a smoke break after turning off the cameras.
So is the GF’s daughter going to be able to fly home from Newfoundland this Saturday? It’s St. Johns to Toronto to St. Louis. Two saints there – that should count for something!

I learned from the news, that Japan is not really interested in testing. The total number of tests are equivalent to what South Corea is testing per day. Also, they lit the olympic fire today and want to go ahead with the olympics. The government is ignoring the issue. If you look at the Japan numbers 924 infected as of today, they might be completely wrong.
We are experiencing a world wide catastrophe in slow motion. A world economic crisis will be inevitable.
I assume Abe is as much of an ethnofascist terrorist on COVID-19 as he is on every other subject.

Ran into this guy online:
He’s not good with numbers I guess because if you extrapolate that shit out it gets ugly.
“Sure a million dead, whatever.”

This Atlantic video of quarantined Italians sending their past selves messages warning them to not take the coronavirus threat lightly is pretty effective apart from the final message of it ending soon.

Well gosh, I guess with whatever he’s trying to say there’s no problem. Please make sure he lets staff at his local hospital know.

Thank you! You’re amazing. If this was reddit I’d give you gold or something. Instead I’ll say, “You rock!”
The city of Minneapolis largely footed the bill for city-wide Wi-Fi to be put in and operated by a local Internet provider (US Internet) It seems to have been a win/win across the board as city services (particularly cops, surveyors, etc) get mobile data for way less than whatever generous terms are available from Verizon et al, and it’s cheap if not-amazing Internet for a ton of people across the city.
USI just opened the network to all and sundry for the duration of the pandemic emergency response. F’rex, kids who may not have Internet access at home.
Shout out.
(Also shout out for the pretty-damn-good packets our elementary put together for the kids, plus collections of links, lesson plans, schedule templates, and more. We’re a lot less lost as surprise homeschoolers than we would be otherwise. Plus a free meal with honest-to-god fruits and veggies for every kid every day, handed out outside the school.)
(But my sister is itching to move away because a bloo bloo the taxes here are soooooo hiiiiiiiigh. Me, I’ll take living in the functional state, thanks.)
So here’s a disquieting thought… The fact that Italy’s numbers continue to climb after lockdown, does that suggest it wasn’t just the lockdown that mitigated the outbreak in China but their use of fever camps to separate the infected from family members and hospitals? Because that would bode ill for the rest of the world.

I used to tell people “drive to Iowa” or vice versa. Because without looking at signs you’d know when you crossed the borders because of the change in roads.
But now it’s all interstates for most people.
Oh, anything in Minnesota outside of the Twin Cities/Duluth/Rochester is indistinguishable from the rest of the shithole rural Midwest.
