In fairness, what the Brexiteer moron who runs Whetherspoons thinks about trying to keep taking in money has little to do with governement policy. He just likes to mouth off.

But yeah, it was past time for the government to tell, not ask.

My wife is one of the “lucky few” who still get to commute into work next week. Being a teacher in central London, her colleagues and her are needed to watch the children of the essential workers. They are all happy to do their bit too help. Much respect to them.

So outside of NY, WA, and probably CA there is still basically no surveillance. There could be states with way worse outbreaks out there than those 3.

What an f’ing fiasco. We need 47 more Cuomo’s apparently.

Errr…NO.

Look at how us Brits are (not) managing (anything.)

I’ve lived in Spain a long time and there are some things that irritate me alot about it, but in this scenario, instance, I think the Spanish are far more on point than us brits.

That’s not clear. There are still a lot of states not reporting negatives. There are still a lot of states clearly lagging in their reporting.

It’s likely that the COVID-19 Tracking Project is not the leading edge of testing reporting, but rather likely a day or two or three behind testing totals for many states.

We can have some DeWine’s as well. He’s not fucking around and Ohio has mostly been avoiding things.

We’ve gotta cut off all flights, highways, train tracks, etc. from Florida.

I think PA is doing the best they can given the size of the state. We were actually faster to close things down both in the Philly metro area and statewide than CA and NY I think. The testing may not have ramped as much publically though.

In other news, there were 22 cases in my borough of London on Tuesday.

3 days later:

There are 47 confirmed cases in Lewisham, out of a local population of 303,536

Note: Not all those with the virus will have been tested

It’s all going well.

It’s not much of a bioweapon that can be staved off with Vitamin D. Also, you shouldn’t love people like that. It’s a poor investment.

I mean, when you dive into the state by state numbers, there are some surprises to be found.

California makes it exceedingly tough to find accurate numbers. Which is crazy. But the best numbers there are actually being collected county by county by the LA Times, and not the state.

Ohio has been way out in front of a lot of stuff on C19. But then you look and see that in two weeks Ohio is reporting 309 total tests. Is that correct? I have no idea. But they performed 50 tests (reported them anyway) in the last 24 hours.

And then there’s sleepy ol’ New Mexico. I mean, I bet they don’t test for shi…HOLY SHIT NEW MEXICO. HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS?

New Mexico has reported 3,800 total tests. Yes, that’s small, but compare that per capita to other states. The Land Of Enchantment ramped up from 583 tests on Monday at close of data lock in to 3800 today. Whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it.

The ability to deep dive into that cumulative day-over-day, state by state data is fascinating.

My neighbor’s wife is a nurse at a hospital here in Orlando, Florida. They have 6 cases so far today and a 7th they are waiting for test results (I’m not 100% clear if the 6 cases are just “no they don’t have the flu so give them the proper tests” or truly confirmed cases). The hospital has been having most people wear basic masks because they are rationing their real protective gear due to short supply.

Another friend who is a doctor (I think she’s up in Michigan atm volunteering) that they are not allowed to change out masks in between patients. They must use the same mask all day long unless they get blood on them.

PA is still under 3000 total tests state wide. With 268 positives. :(

But 1100 in the last day after 500 the day before. Not great, but moving.

I think as the months roll on, there will be daily examples of why private run health care is not very great.

Yeah they just got their 10 testing locations finally set up in my area of PA yesterday.

Wait where did you see the 500 and 1100 numbers? @triggercut

Commercial has to keep going in order to supply people with… things, some considered essential. Passenger stuff, sure but again they have to get stuff they need but minimal traffic for that.

What do you mean? All those wealthy lay-abouts can get COBRA!

/sarcasm

Finding more cases is good! With more testing, we’re starting to get below the tip of the iceberg. Hopefully with more people testing positive and knowing it, they can take better steps to isolate themselves if they aren’t already.

It’s low-hanging fruit, but I’ll take a whack at it:

“I didn’t receive anything from Obama, nothing! Just a small loan of a million dollars.”

“Trump squanders another inheritance”

Okay, I’m done.
