One thing that is going to drive me into crazy anger is when this finally slows down trump is going to try to take total credit proclaiming day and night how he saved America. I will not be able to handle that.
It’s already becoming clear that is what will happen with his base. I hope the middle swing is more discerning… but I’m also concerned about this rewrite of the total fuck up of US preparations during Jan-Feb.

We all know it’s going to end some day, pandemics all eventually do. Trump can try to claim credit but I don’t believe it will fly. Even if the pandemic were to miraculously end before the election, the economy won’t recover by then.
As an aside, I just noticed that the UK has one-fifth of the confirmed cases of the US but practically the same number of deaths. Something is screwy there, but is it on the US or UK side?

True. But keeping supplies at arms length for something like this requires room and expense that many businesses/hospitals etc would find confining. I believe I saw where the military is going to release supplies and it would seem that would be something they would have.

I understand (no I don’t) the paranoia of shelter in place but lets get real, different people, different groups, are at different risk. Bitching about every small (neighbors, a couple kids) gathering serves no freakin purpose other than to bitch.

The testing in the UK is very low compared to the population. Not sure why they’re getting so many negatives though - presumably there is something in their testing methodology which is causing them to get such low numbers.
The UK seems to be on a trajectory 4-5 days behind Spain (though the case numbers in Spain are also quite low, so that doesn’t really say much).
Not a randomized trial, a good chunk of patients had negative outcomes that prevented them from being included (they didn’t finish the course of treatment), their choice of successful endpoint and how it was measured is questionable. Basically, use this info to generate further hypotheses, but don’t go thinking the problem is magically solved just yet.
