We’re not a police state, yet. Any adult who runs some sort of team can just go to the park. Whose going to stop them? It’s not like they took the equipment away and many of the parks are not… fenced.

So go on line and bitch about it, that will solve the problem, or maybe just make you feel better, but I somehow doubt that. Don’t get me wrong, people are idiots and they are doing stupid things, but stressing out about it won’t make your life any better.

We have over 5k posts on one of many COVID-19 related topics. If you want people to stop talking about it, you’re in the wrong topic.

Don’t read stuff into what I wrote. I wrote about people bitching about their neighbors, there is a lot more being written here than that.

Maybe what we need is a spinoff thread were everyone can name their stupid friends, neighbors and relatives and we can group shame them. Now that sounds like the internet. :)

Hmmmm. Ordering online grocery delivery seems to be pretty much impossible in the UK right now.

This is just to use the website on one option. Others have no delivery slots even weeks in advance.

Can i coin the term Darwin Fingering? I mean, at this point, soon it’ll likely be Darwin Fisting. Tell you what, let’s share ownership.

This is a community. People are going to talk about what bothers them, especially in the midst of a pandemic that has most of us a bit anxious about our neighbors’ behavior.

Every person who dies, who gets infected, IS someone’s neighbor, someone’s friend someone’s family, someone’s child or parent. What do you think caring about other people looks like? Making them some sort of faceless blob so you can just slap a statistic on them and pretend you’re all data driven instead of caring about the human is not just a stress-less approach, it’s heartless… You think people are mad just to be mad. They’re not just playing with their lives. they’re playing with everyones lives.

We have healthcare workers spending every waking moment without having access to what they need while trying to fight this thing so yeah, it’s okay to tell your neighbor to stop being an inconsiderate asshole and want them to knock that shit off.

We don’t have enough police to make people do the right thing. We never have. The social pressure is the best we can do.

Well, unlike Nesrie I could barely give a shit about my neighbor’s health, except to the extent that it affects me and mine having a working hospital to go to if we get ill. I have several family members with fairly serious health problems.

Early returns are showing that it’s not looking good…NYC’s health care system has basically disintegrated on first contact (incredibly, they still haven’t shut down non-essential businesses!)

Disregarding social distancing rules is going to make this disaster far, far worse.

I went to the woods today to get away from it all. Only, I discovered that for all the things that have been closed in MA, the park isn’t, so it was by far the busiest I’ve ever seen it. Large packs of people roaming around together. I don’t think anyone was attempting to engage in social distancing on purpose. It was impossible to stay away from people, so we gave up and went home instead of incurring further risk.

The more things close, the more people will concentrate on whatever is still open. After reading “the hammer and the dance” today, I’m pretty sure we’d need a much bigger hammer than we have now.

Ah there we go.

Man they really stretch sometimes with the substitutions, and even seem to do it sometimes when you say not to. I’m really looking forward to the Himalayan Salt and Avacado oil chips that replaced the Sea Salt and Vinegar chips. Not a big deal in this case really and they are under tremendous stress, but getting some items that are already expired is more of an issue.

Looks like I’m getting more trouble with friends in regards to this.

Apparently one of drugs used for lupus (which puts you at high risk of major impacts from this) is rumored to reduce the effects of coronavirus. On top of that, she works at a place where someone got it, and isn’t being allowed to work from home.

Italy just went into full lockdown. Nobody can leave home for work (except people in the food and health business and other strategic industries). Forbidden to leave the house for any reason, etc… (before you could go running, to work, and other activities).

Whoever did not get 100% ready for remote working is done.

It seems they decided the weren’t seeing enough effect from the previous lockdown.

Better suited, but less inclined. Because it looks like weakness and a failure of the government, which can never happen.
They have tools they can use that democracies probably don’t, but they’re more likely to try to lie their way through it.

Well based on the Coivid 19 tracker it looks like we might have plateaued in the US. I mean the infections are skyrocketing because we are ACTUALLY testing, but the daily death rate which was sharply rising. peaked 2 days ago at 63 dead, then has steadied at 40+ deaths daily for the past few days. So maybe the measures we are taking now are helping.

I’m seeing that announced just for Lombardy, not all of Italy?

This is wildly unlikely given the circumstances.

Compared to everyone else, we’ve barely begun to take measures.

We have not.
