Spain is worse than Germany or France per capita. I expect lockdowns this week or early next, at least in Madrid and the Vasque country.
That’s what I did, ordered TP from Amazon. Here in Hawaii as soon as Costco gets a shipment it’s gone in hours. People :facepalm
I’m basically checking with Iberia every few hours to see if I still have travel plans. Also with Emirates for the other leg of the trip.
This was a really good overview how the 1918 flu spread around the world, how governments and cities reacted and even downplayed the danger until it was too late.
Probably you want to steer clear of Madrid and travel to Barcelona if possible. If we lock down it will likely be Madrid first.

Which numbers are you going by? The latest WHO sitrep has Spain at 159 new cases, vs. France at 410 and Germany at 317. And AFAIK neither has twice the population of Spain. It’s similar for total confirmed cases.
Not that this is a competition :(
555 new cases in the last 24 hours.

And Germany does have twice the population of Spain…
Germany has 1100 official reported
I would, but basically you can’t get there from here. I’m traveling in and out of Madrid by air 5 times in the next 2 months or so. Or not, probably.
Edit: Honestly, I would cancel myself, but I’m waiting to get the best refund / rebooking terms I can get. It’s tricky when dealing with two different airlines.
New cases.
We went from 700 to 1200 in a day.
Well, since you might get stuck we could probably hang out. If they don’t close restaurants .P
Heh. Come the deluge, you’re on!
From the BBC, re: Italy quarantine:
What are the restrictions?
Mr Conte described the measures as “I stay home” - with people forbidden to assemble in public.
“No more nightlife; we can’t allow this anymore since they are occasions for contagion,” he said.
The restrictions are similar to those earlier applied to the worst affected Lombardy region, and 14 other provinces.
The government has said only those with a valid work or family reason that cannot be postponed will be permitted to travel.
Passengers departing on flights, except temporary visitors, will have to justify themselves, as will all those arriving by plane.
There are controls at train stations to check temperatures.
Cruise ships are forbidden to dock at various ports.

Holy fuck. Did something specific happen?
75% higher population. (So not quite double, while their infection rates were double in the latest WHO stats. But obviously that’s not going to be the case tomorrow…)
That sounds…unmanageable. Either ban the flights or don’t, but maybe we will let you in is a recipe for more chaos.
My guess is increased testing.
I envision a lot of excitable yelling in Italian

In other news, humans are awful. :(
I gather there’s going to be another White House presser in a few for the Administration to congratulate itself some more.
