Corona Virus - Bio Weapon of the people

Short of going onto a quarantined cruise ship and randomly kissing seniors, the guy is doing everything possible to get it.

That list floating around of people the individual contacted is looking more and more plausible (list has 9 people, Kellyanne Conway and Devos are on it).

Oh my god, please just wipe the whole administration out. If that miracle happened, I would definitely reconsider my belief in a God.

I’m in southern California and my (fairly large) company is asking us to work from home starting tomorrow. It’s going to be interesting to see if our VPN can handle the load. I think that’s half the reason they are doing it, just to test out their business continuity plans in a somewhat safe, controlled manner.

Trump is going to get the Pangolin’s Kiss.

Pressed for comment, the virus replied: “I moved on him like a bitch. You know I am automatically attracted to idiots – I just start infecting them. I’m like a magnet. Just infect. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a coronavirus, they just let you infect them. I could infect anyone. Even the President of the United States. I could infect anyone.”

You go girl, good sir

To post some good news Korea seems to have got a handle on things and they didn’t lock anyone into their homes. Cancelled schools, everyone wears masks and gets a certain amount per week, pay people under quarantine, engineer the heck out of testing and go bananas so you really know infection numbers, quickly iterate on treatment protocols if you do get sick improving outcomes.

At this rate the next Samsung phone will have COVID-19 testing built right in. (Not really, pretty sure that isn’t viable, but… not 100% sure.)

No new news, just a great headline:

I got word today that NYU will be moving to remote classes starting this week and going through spring break and late March. I guess we’ll reassess at that point.

If I’d known this was coming so soon, I would have chosen to screen something other than Color Out of Space last week!

Korea is held up as one of the gold standards in response without crippling all daily activity. BUT this is largely because authority to track citizens in such a situation was worked out in 2015 as a result of MERS. A colleague there says you can easily track the phone GPS and location of credit card payments for anyone that has been tested positive, giving the public the ability to know their neighborhood risk. (I think the name is anonymous, but GPS is mapped for all to see.)

Singapore and Taiwan have similar high tech responses that are technically feasible but probably legally murky in the US.

I personally think in these kinds of emergencies you should use all that information for the public good, but I’m doubtful the US will in time.

Santa Clara County CA just voted to ban any event with attendance of over 1,000 people.

That means the San Jose Sharks will be playing in an empty arena going forward.

First ban of its kind in the US.

I have a bad feeling about this baseball season.

So Trump’s talking about a payroll tax reduction. What the bozo fails to understand is that what people are gonna need is paid leave/income support if they end up quarantined. A payroll tax cuts does nothing for people who become unemployed or are unable to work and have no sick leave (either fired/laid off or just gig workers out of commission). These stupid fucks…

That’s pure socialism. In Trumps view you need to give tax breaks to the business owners, and hopefully they extend that to their employees. Bonus points for doing it on time, when they need it.

If option 1 has been enacted, how are options 2 and 3 even viable? Neutral site, presumably free from Covid-19 contamination? Where’s that? The Moon? Visitors building? So let’s send folks from an infected place to another place that may or may not already be infected?

Other states haven’t declared states of emergency yet, so they must be safe! /s

They’ll play in Sacramento
