Work has given me the ok to work from home, as im high risk and the best way to mitigate this is avoid a commute through some of the busiest stations in London.
I’m heading in tomorrow as i have a tri-annual healthcheck planned but im not sure i’ll complete this week. Next week its my team off anyway. Week after UK will be at peak and not a chance im heading out. VPNs are under strain. Lots of issues today. We have near unlimited budget to throw at it too. You can’t just stop a regulated trading environment.
Had a chat with my bro about my mum today, bracing ourselves if UK oldies start getting it. I’ll have to deal with it most likely, his baby is due in 2 weeks and they are in Dubai. Dubai seems pretty on the ball anyway. Masks and sanitizers free for all, schools shut, restrictions etc.
I want to take a moment and send my sincere best wishes to all QT3 members in affected areas both in the United States and around the globe. I hope that wherever you may be, you and your families stay healthy and safe. My thoughts are with you.

Red state resident here: Most people I know here think this is just another version of the flu, and it won’t be bad.
The bright side is that our stores remain fully stocked with TP and rice.
Guns and ammunition, too, I imagine.

It’s Missouri, so… yep! Gun control here means they make sure you have one ;)
As I said, I haven’t heard or seen anything to contradict your assumption, if that is any reassurance. Both my SO and I are on high alert at the moment, her especially, as she works in healthcare. I’m pretty certain that if there had even been a sniff of news to indicate that our kids were at risk, she would have let me hear of it.

I didn’t see it linked in here.
So far kids have been a lot safer than with the flu.
At this point I’m really hoping they cancel the NCAA tournament—or more realistically at least close it down to the public, but I’m not optimistic.

I am tracking it closely, as I have 3 young kids. And the middle school a mile and a half from me had a kid test positive Sunday.
I wonder if at some point they will decide to hold sports events without live in-person audiences? Of course it wrecks their revenue model, but canceling them does that too.
TV contracts. At worst, I can imagine they’ll play but behind closed doors.

A big problem i see over and over is this idea that everything is “politicized”. Of course the bald faced irony of it is entirely missed by them. But what they want to do is effectively (without really understanding it) live in an unpierced bubble so that what Fox News says just is common sense, 5:30pm respectable nightly news, the way things are, hand over heart and let’s work togetherness. But over and over when i share articles about how the rest of the world sees that US they sigh and complain: “What a shame this has been polticized. Why can’t we just work together?” followed quickly by “Well it doesn’t matter what Trump does the Democrats have it *out for hmm!!” ect

The John Hopkins tracker site just dropped another 1,500 cases on Italy. Over 10,000 now.
631 deaths
Yeah I’m sure you’re right they won’t actually be cancelled. But we have some of the women’s games here in Greenville and I don’t want that many people traveling here, and my wife has tickets to the Final Four in ATL and I am really worried about her traveling there. And on the latter, it’s selfish but I’m hoping for the easy way out—the games happen behind closed doors, so we don’t have to debate it ourselves.
6% death rate is not encouraging.
Well, here is Spain they are taking things seriously (four days late, imho, but still) and they have cancelled all sport events nationwide (which is huge since this is a big lobby here).
Will they cancel the Semana Santa? I think it’s looking likely.
Next two match days in La Liga will be played behind closed doors.
Have to think both the Premiership and Bundesliga will anounce something similar.
And Ligue 1 (France) will too, I’d imagine.
Trump at least caught himself before saying 8 million died (he corrected and said 8 thousand deaths) from the flu this year.
Then again he keeps comparing it to the flu, which is bad, since a good portion of American’s get vaccinated for that yearly.
