Yep, anyone offering over a 3% discount is evading taxes for sure. And actually even doing that breaks their agreement with visa and mastercard, who strictly prohibit discounts for not using a credit card.

How far do you go for takeout? The only time I eat in my car is the extra order of fries that I got expressly for this reason.
Both Target and Amazon offer 5% off for using their in-house cards, so there’s some value beyond 3%.
They aren’t a discount for paying cash at your corner store, those are loyalty programs from giant corporations.
They’ll collect your interest payments. That’s different than offering a discount for cash. I won’t say that any discount over 3% is evidence of tax evasions, but a discount of 15% is certainly a lot for avoiding the card transaction fee.
Target’s Red debit card just pulls from your checking account so there isn’t interest involved. ATM / debit fees are generally lower than credit card though, so that may be how they justify it.

If schools are remote in the Fall, I think we are going to have to switch to official home schooling. The remote learning is not working for anybody in the family. I’m pretty sure I could teach the kids more, in less time, and they would enjoy it more. Sigh.
Which is bullshit in its own right (…but not relevant to this thread).
I live pretty far west of most of the restaurants in town. Around 15-20 minutes for some that I like, depending on traffic.
I must admit, I’m thriving in the quarantine and lockdown. It’s only my wife who wants to get out and about and for her it’s a change of environment. She’s probably more anti-social than me. I could stay locked up with my giant collection of games, books, TV and hobbies forever. I was made redundant in 2001 and spent 18 months doing this and I was single then and even more isolated. Before that I was an Everquest addict and only left house for work.
Even our only regular habit of dining out at foodie places is only slightly missed because I’m enjoying losing Weight. I am missing white asparagus and morel season though. Turkish morels are the best, asapargus from South of France, hmm. Next Spring hopefully. Perhaps I’ll be bored of isolating by then.
Steam has a game for you!
1st paragraph, totally agree, second paragraph, I’m the opposite. I’m gaining weight, though I desperately miss my favourite foodie places, especially certain street markets. If any of them re-open in the coming weeks, I may well end up cycling into town for lunch.
I was eating less on the first few weeks because we were rationing our supplies not knowing what shopping we could get. Now we’re back to regular deliveries my appetite is reduced and I’ve lost the sugar/junk/grazing urge, cut it out of deliveries, and no longer walk past places that sell nice food.
We have two local restaurants that we go to for takeout. One is two minutes from my house, the other five, so no need to eat anything in the car. We don’t do fast food.
I don’t mind sheltering place. All that I miss are dining out and going to bars to hear live music. I can live without those for another six months if I have to.
Also, there are some places with outside seating that will open up soon. As long as they distance people properly and the wait staff wear masks, we might try those as the weather warms.
So with the warmer months around the corner, and me already sweating from wearing a mask around my nose and mouth, I apparently am full of hot moist air, I’ve been considering getting these to use as summer masks/ face wrap:
Would making it wet in the summer (to enjoy the cool feeling), cause it to be less effective than a dry cotton cloth mask?

Heh. We all are. If you’re not, you’re dead.
Well, the cool wouldn’t last very long; your breath will heat it until you’re breathing warm moist air through a warm moist cloth. Or, put another way, suffocating lol.
Guidance about returning to work from our offices in 2021:
- 50% of desks gone
- 3 people max in conference rooms
- Office cafe meals served on a specific schedule
- No more than 10 people in one place at a time
- No guests
- Use the stairs, not elevators (mind we have 9 floors in our HQ)
- Masks required all the time
- Body temp screenings
