Boy, that one takes me back, Mark! Getting stoned in my dorm room during my freshmen year in college in Arkansas…

It was also in the first batch of albums I got from the Columbia Record Club. Damn, I’m old!
That’s one of my favorite album covers, too.
Had a few days off, brainstorming a more comfortable mask alternative, someone get me in touch with one of them shark tank investors please. :)
*This post is intended for mild amusement, unless someone really wants to invest. ;)

Too late! - Did you not see the Biovyzr? ;)
But no 6 foot distance!
And his arms are way more usable, I consider a negative!

So we received an interesting letter today. Hand written. Nice penmanship. From the Jehova’s Witnesses. Asking if we had heard the word, etc. And a questionnaire to be filled out and returned to them.
And did you fill it out and add in the notes section that you could get them a penis by 3 o’clock, with nail polish?
Did you write back and tell them about the bird?
Our managing director just announced today that our office in London will not reopen until September at the earliest. I better make my home office a bit more comfortable…
I’m glad not to have to consider commuting into London any time soon and I am thankful for the decision. But I do miss the face to face interactions with our small team.
At least MS Teams has figured out how to display video for more than 4 attendees at a time now.
He did, but then he flipped it at them.
Not sure when my office is planning on re-opening. But our office whose lease is expiring in July just decided they are going to stop paying for underground parking, so if we go there we have to park in the visitor lot which has about 10 spaces. And there are 30 to 40 of us in that office. So I guess we are not going back to that office!
Unfortunately, we’re moving back to the office as we were in before which has cubicles with about a 4 foot high wall between cubes so that doesn’t sound very appealing either. They have not announced what they’re gonna do about that.
I am hoping and praying I can parlay this into working at home for the foreseeable future. Until I retire around next March.
We were a small software house acquired last year by a larger company. So we were working from a small office in South West London.
The office couldn’t accommodate the new developers we need for our expanded responsibilities and was frankly not great in general. So the acquiring company negotiated a long term lease for a brand new office for us right in the centre of London (2 minutes from Covent Garden, for those who know the tourist hot spot).
Negotiations to acquire it last year dragged on. Work finally started around December and completed… the first week of April, a week after lockdown.
Now the lease on the old office is finishing this month and our stuff is being moved into storage. The new office is sitting vacant (just like our company’s existing HQ not far from there) and will stay so until September.
On the one hand, we were quite excited to get a brand new office with more space to work from and be closer to our new colleagues. On the other hand, I’m really glad not to travel to central London any time soon.
Our MD did say that reopening the offices would be contingent on making them suitable for the new work recommendations. He added that he doubted everything would go back to the old ways of working.
So we really have no clue what office life will look like exactly for our company. I’d happily limit my presence there to a couple of days a week if I could though.
Decisions for our New York and Sidney offices will be taken separately according to conditions there. And the Hong Kong office is already re-opened, though with extra measures.
All that to say I hope your employer, even if they send you back to that older building, will make sensible changes to the layout and ways of working.
Fortunately, my employer is incredibly sensible and overall a very good one so I have no doubt that whatever they end up doing it will be as sensible as things can be during this crazy time.

CCP’s new London office was right there in Covent Garden and I loved visiting. That’s a great place to hang out. Or at least it was, in the before times.
I never knew that. Wish I could have visited there.
I used to work on the South Bank near the London Eye in my previous job and would sometimes walk to Covent Garden in summer as it’s such a nice place (with singers in the covered market, lots of good food, …). It won’t look anything like that this summer, I would think. Maybe by next year…
