Covent Garden hasn’t been the same since the duck wrap place left the weekly food market.

In good news, Olive Garden and Red Lobster are open for dining here again. The parking lots are nearly full too.

Booo, super sad day. My favorite local board game store is closing. Its where I went for weekly X-wing, and the community there was a key element of helping me adjust when I moved out here without my wife and kids to get established on the new job. That, along with Bruce, David, Scott, and Ray really helped me adjust to life 2000 miles away in that first year.
Losing that community is crushing.

That is sad. I am still morning the shops we lost that I went to as a kid. Of course I couldn’t afford much back then, so I doubt I kept it afloat but years later, I know the corner, remember the sign and the name of the owner.
My local astronomy shop closed a month ago. I lived within a mile of that place and when I got into astronomy 5 years ago, the owner helped me out a lot getting into the hobby. Really gonna miss the dude and the shop.
If the fans can’t come to the sport… create a huge Zoom meeting at the pitch:
Cool concept, IMO. I hope it works out well.
Not often I see my local team in international news. I attended the game on Zoom and it was a fun experience. But in no way any kind of substitute to being present at the stadium. They also played spectator sounds (home team chants) on the stadium speakers, and that worked pretty well. But in all honesty, football without the crowds is far from optimal. Now that I’ve tried the Zoom thing, I don’t think I’ll need to try it again.
There was also a drive-in event for 1000 cars watching on big screens for that match, and I might try that out at the next home match date.
All in all, I appreciate the innovation from the club in these challenging conditions.
That is Awesome (and I say that despite being a Brøndby-boy :-p).
Yeah - no way it can be a substitute for the real thing, but I like that (1) they try to provide some value to the core supporters, and (2) they’re actually trying to think outside the box in terms of finding innovative solutions to this difficult time we’re in, rather than just protesting the restrictions or giving up. Hope that they - and the other clubs - develop the concept further

Follow up:
THE STORE LIVES!
Two new owners are taking over the store. As I had mentioned one of the owners moved cross country so that was already straining things, but business was good before so it worked. This strained things, but now it lives.
I want to give them a hug, but will have to do with a nod and wave for now.

It reminds me of a Sci-Fi movie.

I wonder what the TTP (time to penis) will be. I bet under two minutes.
Well, given that all of these people are pretty much season ticket holders and therefore 100% identified… probably a bit longer. Danes are not prudes (so no one will probably be all that fussed), but it’s still likely to mean that you are going to lose yout ticket and get kicked from watching your favorite team. Possibly permanently.
There are some very odd side benefits to this whole situation. Stimulus checks, no student loan payments for months, and now I’ve gotten an unemployment extension. It’s kinda weird. This has been both the worst and kinda best time to pursue my dream.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that. I was already laid off, but the Federal dollars really helps. I just got the 13-week extension that pays me about $1,000/week to be unemployed here in CA.
Whoa that’s a lot more than I’m getting. Wow.

Are you in CA? California state benefits are $450/week max (minus 10% federal taxes), plus the $600/week federal benefits.
Oh I’ve no idea about federal benefits. How does one sign up for those?

I didn’t have to do anything, CA just started adding it in to my normal unemployment check shortly after the law was passed.
