While reminiscing about King of New York, I reminded myself of this crazy idea of Walken playing the Joker in Batman. A darker, more sinister Joker.
Now you mention it, I can’t really think of anyone else playing him.
The Joker should be a bit of a lively fellow. (I mean… he’s a joker!) I just don’t see that in Walken. I think Jack was a great cast for the role, althougth I have yet to see a perfect live action Batman movie.
Flashes of energy have always been in Walken, see him reunited with his old crew in ‘King…’ and roles he’s played in Mousehunt etc. The man did start of as a Broadway dancer so I think he’s got it in him. Agree that Nicholson did do a great job though.
Jack wasn’t exactly a lively fellow either. I liked Jack’s Joker (mainly because I like Jack), but, come on, Caesar-I won’t shave my moustache-Romero was more like the comic book villain.
Being John Malkovich would have been considerably better had it been Being Christopher Walken. Now that’s a movie I want to see.

I think it is fair to say that there are precious few movies that would not benefit from Christopher Walken being in them.
I think Walken’s career had its apex in his brief appearance in Annie Hall as Annie’s crazy brother.
As to the Joker, I like Jay Leno, just because he has the largest head known to mankind. Put some makeup on that beachball-sized head and get him to grin with his giant jawbones, and we’d all go home from the theatre and have nightmares. Too bad I can’t stand Leno.
