Do you guys use guides on your first play through?

Not really, but I do like (with big RPG’s like this) to read the opening sections that talk about mechanics and character creation/builds for ideas while I wait for the game to install/day 1 patch to install. However, it’s been a llong while since I got a guide day one…

That said, if I get stuck or curious, you bet.

I can see this being a fun book to have after a first playthrough, either to browse idly out of curiosity or for a deliberate second play.

I pre-ordered that book a while back. It ships for delivery on the 10th.

WHAT IF I GET STUCK ON THE 9TH?!?!

:)

I can’t remember when I’ve actually used a guide book to play a game. Maybe for some of the side quests in ES: Oblivion. I’m too jazzed for CP:2077 though, and it looks like a cool print companion in its own right, especially since games are all digital and you don’t get useless but endearing schwag in the box any longer.

In RDR2 it was mostly for the maps and collectibles. Frankly, you never would have found a fraction of the collectibles without a guide. Stuff like the dinosaur bones are just a bump in the terrain often times - with bonn be indicators.

Valhalla leads you to everything with a giant blip.

The actual campaign guide for RDR2 was mostly fluff though, since the story is pretty much on rails and I don’t read for spoilers.

I think it may be useful for CP2077 though, because it seems(?) there are multiple solutions to major quests with significant ramifications on the story. I don’t like to save/load a lot to see each possible solution so maybe at critical decisions I’ll read a bit ahead to get a hint at the result.

I also have a feeling I’m going to be annoyed by the verticality of the game and how it appears levels are stacked on each other, so I can see how maps would be helpful again.

Lastly, it can be helpful to lay out optional side quests. I remember the awesome Skyrim guidebook that had pages and pages of side quests. I don’t recall much of that in RDR2, but have a feeling that will be the case for Cyberpunk.

If we can make our own character which sex will yours be?

I’m having a tough time deciding on punk girl vs. boring me-a-like.

The last time i used a guide, i was a little kid and you had to use a magic highlighter to get it to show you the answer.

Some of you guys know what I’m talking about.

Well…you can be both.

at the same time?

Be you, you’re not boring! And then go and stick it to all the corporate leeches that take advantage of the less fortunate. And you’ll have a hell of a good time doing it.

What origin vignette is everyone doing? Do we know much about these?

I was thinking Nomad just to see the outer area a bit in the beginning.

Probably corporate. I want to start right in the mix!

Corpo for me!

Well I was thinking of going corporate but since that seems like what everyone else is doing maybe I’ll have to reassess so I can maintain my edgelord status 😅

Holy shit. I just realized this thread was created on January 10th, 2013.

It’s been a long-time coming, but the game was announced even further back in May 2012!
