I reviewed damn near 100 games and never once received any of that.

This is why preordering is sometimes good! I got a key cheaper than that when I bought it.

If you have a vpn you can get it really cheap by using GOG Russia.

I don’t know. In my experience, good games (particularly action rpg/fps) are good from the get-go, you don’t need 100 hours, multiple paths or builds explored etc. Things just click or they don’t.

We wanted to make you sweat! Or, we knew you were so good, you didn’t need 'em! Or something?

I tend to agree with you. The industry expectation however was different back then. With relatively few review outlets, and even fewer print magazines that sort of were the standard bearers, reviews got more notice, and people especially on the print side were very sensitive to charges of payola or favoritism or whatever. So the pressure was to make sure no one could dispute a review by saying “they didn’t play it all!”

I’m pre-loading now through GOG Galaxy. Just under 60GB and a very fast connection.

For a moment I thought you were bragging, til I realized what you were saying :-D

Someone said fast connection?

Preload or not, I will be playing this a few minutes after release :P

Just incase Steam and my ISP want to give me extra download bandwidth.

How big is the download size?

65GB.

Jeez, what do you have, a fat pipe direct fiber link or something? I am lucky to get 10 MB/s.

Cyberpunk appears to have downloaded itself onto my XSX, at least according to my phone.

Yay.

1000/500, FTTH.

I had 1Gigabit speed (50 up) for a few years there mostly as between my son and I we were blowing through our cap quickly, and this gave us a 6TB cap. I found having gig speeds to not be super useful 95% of the time though. Sure, you can download Cyberpunk 2077 crazy fast, but it’s a pre-load and I am at work while it’s downloading anyway. For most of what I use the internet for (streaming and YouTube, browsing the web) it never came into play, so once my son moved out I put us back down to a 100Mb connection and that’s served me very well, it’s about 1 min per GB of download, give or take, and waiting “an hour” to download a big game is hardly a challenge, but it shaved a LOT off our monthly bill.

We are limited to whatever the crappy copper will allow, and Comcast has a monopoly anyway where I live, so there’s zero competition. Sigh.

I’m on the tock, of my tick tock between Fios and Spectrum Internet. Thankfully, neither have data caps. I dropped my Gigabit on Fios for 600 on Spectrum due to prices being jacked up on Verizon. In another month or so, I can go back as a ‘new’ customer and get all the perks again, but honestly, the 600Mbps is totally fine.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk installed, and even let me click Play!

But they popped this up 😂🤣

Are there any reliable guesses as to when “next gen” versions will be released? I’ve got enough in my backlog I could wait until there’s a PS5 version. And I know I’d buy it anyway so I’d probably be paying twice.

2021 was the ballpark number I saw tossed out by the devs.
