4 weeks then? ;)

It’s unbelievable to me what kind of raw deal the US residents are getting when it comes to internet. I currently live in eastern europe and this 1000/500 is 10 euros a mont (about 12$). That’s without any kind of data caps. Even mobile carriers are practically giving away internet, I think I have a monthly cap of 100gb and I pay 6€ a month. I’ve never come even close to using all of it.

Yeah, it’s a shit situation here in the states. I’m luckier than most in that I have three decent options but it’s still very expensive. For example, I’m paying about $70 a month for my 200Mbps/20 up, and that’s at a reduced rate due to being bundled in with my cable (TiVO) and phone.

I pay well over ten times that which includes a $40 add on for unlimited data, and all I get is 300/35. They made it worse now for new subscribers too, they have to pay another $15 a month for 500/10, which in my eyes is a downgrade.

I’m with @Scotch_Lufkin, 300 is fine. I don’t care if I can download a gigantic file in 5 minutes instead of 15. Cyberpunk downloaded just fine. Of course if it takes as long to decrypt it as steam it would probably have been better to just wait until launch.

45€ here for 100mb uncapped symmetrical, the land line and three mobile lines.

That’s what I’ve found historically. I haven’t gotten out a stopwatch to time it, but it seems like downloading a game has been faster (or at least just as fast) for me than decrypting it is. Maybe part of that is psychological because I’m expecting it to be faster.

If we’re comparing international pricing: I’m in Germany and paying 50€ for 200/40.

What platform is everyone getting this on?

ie Are you guys preferring to keep titles under “one roof” so-to-speak and going with Steam, or rather supporting the developer and going with their GOG platform?

I am in czechland and pay 12 euros for 150/50. Upgrading to 1000 would cost me some 35 euros.

I have it preordered on GOG, retail (Collector’s) and Steam. Will play the steam version. I like having my playtime tracked in the steam’s game list.

Steam. For the Steam features and everything under one roof.

Perhaps the median income is lower and thus the companies figure they can’t charge as much for the higher bandwidths? (ie like the regional steam pricing…)

I suspect you are in the minority by triple dipping concurrently!

Sure, but there’s plenty of times I buy a game that’s already been released and I want to play it now. Waiting 20 minutes sure beats waiting a couple of hours.

Or just trying out games on the PC Xbox thingy.

Where I am, I end up paying like $250 a month for internet, phone, and cable TV. The TV is probably the killer, but I haven’t been able to convince my wife to ditch it, even though we DVR or stream everything.

Then again, knowing Comcast, trying to unbundle would end up with us paying exactly the same as we are now. Once they get you, they never let go, unless there is viable competition. Which there isn’t.

20 minutes? I’m on Gig speed no caps and I haven’t waited more than 10 mins in a year ;).

Do I need a full gig? I dunno but it comes with unlimited (only tier) data so I guess I do. Streaming 3 TV"s and playing online games while downloading stuff on conference calls, etc. Yea I think I need it.

I’m going GOG version because I really don’t care and give more $ to devs. I suppose I should go ahead and pull the trigger, it’s close enough.

It also has to do with existing infrastructure. In EE a lot of areas had poor copper infrastructure so when fiber optics became widely accessible they just routed them everywhere. And the electrical cables that are already hanging from everywhere got joined by fiber. But the internet is now cheaper than water :).

From PC Gamer:

That’s kind of what I was expecting given the last minute delay.

Sounds like bugs are bringing the experience down, which is unfortunate, but fixable.

Damn! Gamespot coming in hard with 7/10!

Holy crap, that’s like a D+ grade!
