My apologies, I did not mean it as it came across. I was just too lazy to hop on twitter to check their pronouns.
For the record, I have no problems with trans people, I even find it fascinating to read about. The agenda is clear though, and it can get in the way of the actual review at times.
So, we are going to get a proper grown-up, Chickian review on this one, right? (We better, Tom, or you can count that two bucks I post each month goodbye!!!11@!!)
These millennial kids posing as reviewers chuffs my hairy old arse.

Sure, I get it , and am familiar with the subject matter. There’s also a whole slew of other things the game is about that didn’t get 7 paragraphs of stuff. Corporations running the world, dehumanization via cybernetic enhancements, etc.
The writer being a transgender certainly makes more sense now and I understand the focus of their article better due to their unique (to me) viewpoint. Still not the review I am looking for as I feel there is much more the game/world that frankly interest me more.
Have we jumped straight to backlash? Woof. Back to Lundun!
The reaction to this game is going to be fascinating.
I am still on the hype train! Its too soon to get off at backlash station! :)
LOL! I’m going to assume it’s the second thing. You guys printed my stuff with almost zero edits most of the time so that’s my proof! :D
Some of those RTS games I reviewed… woof. Those would have been much nicer to deal with if there were cheats and save games! Earth 2160 I’m looking at you!
As for Cyberpunk… I cancelled my pre-order last week. It was the last thing I pre-ordered with Gamer’s Club Unlocked at Best Buy. I just didn’t think I’d have the time for it now and not getting a 3080 also kind of left all the air out of the balloon. I’ll either play it on PS5 later or on PC when I finally can get a 3080.
When every review says it’s a bug fest, waiting a bit seems like the smart move. I’m not someone who planned the birth of their kids around the Cyberpunk release date though :)
Looking forward to a couple of patches from now, or maybe even just the ultimate edition or whatever they come out with.

Is the character creator buggy? I can spend hours in there waiting for patches so I’m prolly still buying it tomorrow!

Yeah, this reception is definitely making me feel good about my plan to wait for the next-gen-optimized version to show up (I already own it on Xbox, because the Cyberpunk X1X was actually cheaper than the regular version at the time I was buying one).
Heh I am pretty convinced that’s all I am going to do for the first hours of play time I will be getting if it is as good as it looks.
I’m glad the resident curmudgeon said it and not me!
I love that everyone gets their space to write, but I wish we had a few more 50-somethings with a different perspective.
Anyway, you guys are picking out some good excerpts here. I think it’s helping to set my expectations. But my takeaway is I’ll need to experience the game for myself. That’s a good thing.

Sheesh. For at least the first few days, I’m gonna spend way too much time tweaking graphic settings, and benchmarking (if one is available) to worry about whether the gameplay is actually good.
Sounds like it would have been a fascinating subject for a stand alone article.
Some of the reviews mention the heart and humanity in the side quests.
So that’s going to be my personal player quest: seek out real human beings behind the glitzy facade of the city.
I still want to be a corpo asshole though. Maybe I’ll come around?
All these Cyberpunk reviews so far feel like someone trying to set up a friend with a blind date, and all they’ll tell the friend is what a great personality the other person has.
It is kind of fascinating to read some of the american reviews and then read one like Gamestar’s (germany). How they care about completely different things (and how much more informative and detailed the gamestar’s is).
It’s true; when holding press events, we often have different note sheets for US press v international press. For the international press, we often have further notes divvied up by region or country. Each one has a different focus; obviously the reading audiences are very different in what they care about.
