So 5 hours for Steam?

So the new Nvidia drivers introduced a new way to do colour management and that fucked up my colours something bad and I can’t get it to make them look right again. 1080TI here. From what I see a lot of people with 1080TIs have issues! Be warned. I now need to get my driver fixed somehow in the next 30 minutes to be able to play tomorrow. Just peachy.

5 hours and 3 minutes, there is a handy countdown on steam frontpage.

Ah yes. I miss quoted, I was more commenting on the original post deriding Cdproject for claiming DRM kills performance and talking out of both sides of mouth. That is definitely not them as they are as anti DRM as any company out there. Jeebus they created GOG already!

oh man is it painfully slow. They must be getting hammered I’m getting dialup speeds :)

You misread the intent of the original post. :-)

It probably should have been more clearly stated.

does the patch come out BEFORE the launch or on the launch? the steam version i mean…

I suspect you simply preload the game, and then the game will unlock and download extra couple GB and then you can play.

ah k, if this games better than FNV I will flip my lid… literally… whatever that means i just thought that up.

LOL, I hear ya. I just got a copy of gameinformer (i get them from Gmaestop…dont ask). They had small article/review on the 3000 nvidia cards. At the bottom they thanks their sponsors Origin PC and Digital storm, The list the specs and provide links on the systems provided for testing and recommend the readers go buy them as they are “great starter machines” running over 3200 a piece…for a starter system… Oh boy!

Fair enough, but the “normal HDR” for Netflix is DolbyVision. All Netflix originals are mastered with it and it defaults to DV if the display is capable.

were living in a time where adults now buy gaming rigs instead of sports cars… well they are cheaper… i cant afford anything more than 3k for a gaming machine… much too fancy for me.

Yep, no worries. It did seem odd ;)

I just wsh I can get a good HDR monitor, I love my new ‘cheap’ oled from vizio, but I still prefer mouse kb for gaming.

Define ‘good’ Finally starting to get more real HDR monitors most are 600 nits or below which is pretty meh in HDR output. I gave up due to cost being absurd for a really good, fast one. I’ll check back in a year or so and maybe upgrade from my Meh one.

yeah 600 nits is too low… bare minimum would be 900 which is what my tv is at around. I have been testing PC HDR with HDMI 2.0 on a 2080 to this TV. It still does some outstanding HDR, but it still is nothing compared to what I’ve seen on XBox One X and PS4PRO (and that Last gen now!). I think the AMD chips in those and the current consoles seem to be tailored to the color/brightness scheme of HDR on OLED.

I cannot replicate it as good on PC… although Special K has worked well with some old games like Dead Space series. Dead Space 2… so good in HDR (its a wrapper HDR though, but still looks amazing).

Yeah i think monitor tech is 2 years behind, kinda sux. the top of the line HDR monitors are still near 2k at 31 inches.

It’s for this reason I still find my Samsung 4K HDR I got a few years ago the peak thing to game on - PS4 and Switch titles look incredible on it, especially when a title can use HDR (1000 nits on this thing). It’s just gorgeous for everything from watching TV to gaming.

My monitors, on the other hand, do a great job at giving me a good picture, but nothing near what my Samsung does. But yet when I plug my PC into my TV other issues crop up making it a bad experience - so monitors are still best for PC use. Frustrating.

I’m going to buy a nice LG OLED TV early next year, and I think that’s going to turn into my go-to gaming panel.

I have the 48" LG CX OLED. It’s glorious, w/ 120 Hz, GSYNC, HDR, etc. However even the 3080 can’t maintain a steady 60fps in 4k if you dial everything up to 11. Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, and seemingly Cyberpunk, are too demanding. I’ll probably gawk at Cyberpunk on the 4k a bit, and actually play on my 3440x1440 ultrawide.

This thread moves insanely fast. I preordered this a year ago for XBox (I have an XBoxoneX), and it’s scheduled for delivery tomorrow. But since I have a pretty fast PC as of a couple of months ago, I’m also currently downloading on Steam. I clearly have a problem.

yeah i have been watching boards on the 4k 120 fixes for hdr… it still sounds like were at the start still… but its so annoying that once you see HDR properly in a good game,…it feels like I’m mising something when i play without it.

A good pc HDR game I ran fine at 4k 60 (not 120) is the updated Gears 5 on gamepass. It looks so sweet. PC HDR is doable on the tv’s it just a hassle with gamepad for me on some games.
