Like kids on Christmas who go ape for whatever flavor of the month toy they lusted after, only to be bored with it by the afternoon? Heh.
That’s weird, I don’t have that on taskbar. I just have an update pending in steam itself, but that’s normal when preloading.

Put this in the technical thread but thought it important enough to post here as well since it ws discussed up thread
Nvidia driver :
Ok 3080 here and these drivers scare me. Installed new one and it meditatively kicked the GPU fans into overdrive and the software couldn’t turn them back down. Sounded like a leaf blower. Had to turn off pc completely and get past the POST fully into windows where they finally went back to normal. Yikes :)
Tread lightly they feel rushed.

Reading all the skills and perks, I can totally seeing playing this on my PS4 Pro doing a melee/gun build and going balls out and then playing more a stealth/hacker build once i get my PS5. Lots of ways to customize it seems. Cant wait until 9!
I never never install a “GameReady Driver” the day or even the week it comes out. In fact, more often than not, I’ll stay with drivers that I know are stable for as long as I possibly can, or at the very least until I know the new drivers are good/stable enough.

I haven’t had an issue with a new driver in ages. I suspect this one is fine but the “testing the fans” was unexpected and does make me a little nervous.

Soooo, what do you think the reaction from gamers is going to be for this? Gnashing of teeth and disappointment? Unreserved adulation and praise? Pitchforks and torches? A new super cult?
Guys, this isn’t the PC technical thread. This is the thread for people who don’t want to play the game at release so they can tell each other that us whippersnappers will be sorry!

Why not all of the above?
I took a stab at predicting what reviewers would think, but gamers are like a chaotic void that I prefer not to think too much about. I honestly have no idea.
I predict the consensus will change over time, however. The Witcher 3 wasn’t an all-time favorite 2 days after release.
I predict console versions to have fairly low metascore, PC version to have high, and steam review score to be around 95+ % after few weeks.
All of the above, for sure. All that has happened and the game isn’t even out yet.
Youtube’s algorithm has already thrown a video at me attacking the Gamespot reviewer for her 7/10 review. It just made me annoyed at Google’s algorithm, pushing something like that at me.
I just hope they haven’t fixed all the fun-sounding bugs. Floating cigarettes sound like fun.
Console version looking Andromeda buggy

There will be a negative reaction (I don’t know about here specifically, just referring to gamers in a broader sense) simply because nothing can possibly live up to this level of hype. Where things settle down at after the initial blowback will depend on how good the game is, how bad the bugs are, and how quickly CDPR addresses the latter.
I sadly expect exactly this, then the backlash because its not revolutionary game-play wise plus the bugs. Its going to be a bloodbath if ME:Andromeda’s reception is any indication. Most gamers seem like dicks. Not here of course.

I have no idea if this is an actual term or not, but I tend to refer to it as outrage culture. There’s a lot of people that seem to thrive on being outraged about anything and everything. Sometimes I think they build games up to such impossible heights simply for the payoff of tearing them down at release. :)
If Cyberpunk is buggy, mediocre, or even just competent/good instead of great, I expect many Youtube video rants devoted to how it’s the worst game ever. I also predict the phrase “slap in the face” will be used frequently.

Curious if it would be faster to download rather than wait for preload decryption lol.
